Things that you do unintentionally that could be perceived as rude

I hate talking on the phone, and I interrupt. On the other hand, my DH finishes my sentences for me, which would be fine except he is wrong at least 75% of the time. That does annoy me, when I have to say, "No, what I was going to say was....." Apparently he thinks we have this deep connection that allows him to read my mind, but it is empirically untrue.

Now if he could finish my sentences for me accurately, all the better, then I wouldn't have to bother talking as much.

Interrupter here (sp?) I have horrible hearing, and I have ADHD, and a huge loud family. If I didn't interrupt I would never get to talk or be heard.
It's awful, and embarrassing, and I am trying my hardest as a new parent at a new school to just shut up and listen. But I am younger than most of the parents, and they all have fairly impressive jobs, so I think I am ending up looking like this meek little young mom..oh well, guess its better than being seen as rude

Not to turn is into another north south debate, but southerners always greet people, at least with a little half-smile. But at least they acknowledge your presence.

Anonymous wrote:I see myself in some of these posts -- I both hate talking on the phone AND interrupt! Maybe they are related (harder to have two people talking at the same time on the phone?). I find that I gravitate towards people who are not offended by my interruptions and am annoyed by those who can't cope/try to get me to shush, probably because I attribute most of the interruptions to benign motives. I fit the category of people who may well respond to "I was just in Buffalo" with a brief discourse on how I was just there, loved it, etc. I'm not even that interested in hearing my own voice; I'm making an honest attempt to connect. So, instead of a nod, I jump in exuberantly with an aside and then allow the other person to continue with their story. I often fail to catch myself at it till after the fact, and do it much more when I'm slightly nervous. Definitely a verbal tic.

Yes, this is it exactly!
