I'm awful at returning phone calls or calling friends. I prefer email or texting. And when life gets too busy for emails or texting I fall off the planet for a while. It has offended many a friend. I try to explain I'm bad with the phone but I know it still bugs them. The phone convo is too much work and I rarely feel like talking to people even when they are my friends. Phone conversations with people I actually dislike are borderline anxiety provoking (I'm dreading the call to the in-laws on Christmas day already). Even weirder is that the only place I don't mind using the phone is at work because it's all business. Basically the only People I talk to on the phone are my parents and husband. Otherwise you go to voice mail and may never get a call back/Follow up contact from me, and I may not actually even listen to the voice mail until weeks later.
+1
+1 as well. I never liked talking on the phone except for a brief shining (or not) moment in high school. Much prefer email and LOVE texting. Brevity and getting to the point is my thing. If we're gonna have a big conversation I want to do it face to face. I also "fall off the planet" and have hurt people unintentionally; I usually send a caring/affectionate msg when I know it's been too long. But still, it bothers some friends when I don't return calls.
