Sorry, I don't follow your bible. If you do, then follow it and stop using my Winter Solstice Tree for your holiday!

But what if I buy a live tree and after Christmas, promise to plant it in our yard????

This was to recognize the winter solstice -- the time of the year that had the shortest daylight hours, and longest night of the year. This occurs annually sometime between DEC-20 to 23; most often, it is DEC-21. As the solstice approached, they noticed that the days were gradually getting shorter; many feared that the sun would eventually disappear forever, and everyone would freeze. But, even though deciduous trees, bushes, and crops died or hibernated for the winter, the evergreen trees remained green. They seemed to have magical powers that enabled them to withstand the rigors of winter."

The POINT is the Christians have appropriated our "Christmas Tree" and now tell US we can't have one because we don't follow their religion! It's time to take the Winter Solstice Tree back!

The Native Americans would disagree with you. We don't OWN nature. We work alongside with it.

i.e. lie to the people in order to eventually control them--yeah, they're the "moral" ones to follow. Easter is a no-brainer, the eggs, the rabbits? Fertility idols much?

Never called myself anything.

I'm a Christian and never did the egg and rabbit thing. For us Easter is a time of Ressurection. There's nothing to do with horny rabbits or chicks and eggs.

Yes, but your religion even HAS a resurrection element because it COPIED the resurrection myth from the many, many religions that had gone before it.... where the sacred king died and was brought back to life - usually by rebirth through the Great Mother. Don't believe me? Look it up.

Wow..you all actually believe what's in that book? It's a bit too manipulated for me to believe that any of it is even true. It is a tool of mass manipulation.

No, no.

Resurrection is not re-incarnation. My King is alive in the same body that once died and he'll come back for me.

Don't believe me? Just sit and watch

OP, how can you call yourself a Christian when you go cherry-picking the Hebrew Scriptures for advice on how to live a Christian lifestyle?

Let's not go that route. There's a lot of valuable life lessons among the horror stories...

I. Never. called. myself. a. Christian. Work on your reading comprehension before your post again.

Winter solstice festival was also the time to feast on the winter vegetables and everything else you had gathered for the winter time.
It is the end of the days getting darker and time to get the vitamin boost that the turnips, frozen berries, etc gives you.
You actually do need it in the darkest time of the year, as you had been on a bland diet the rest of the time. And as the days get lighter, the sun gives vitamin D. But that is still a long way away on Dec 24 so that is a good time to have it.
And there is no mention of a reindeer in the bible! The tree has become christian. Green, ervergreen, symbolises eternity

But you did use an "an" before a word that starts with a consonant. That, in and of itself, discredits your post for me.

Off to put my tree up and place an angel on top.

So there.

She's either the jewish convert flake who trashes christians all the time on DCUM, or she's the pagan who posted above. I don't have a lot of patience for either.

If you're the pagan: who the heck told you you can't have your "own" pagan tree? Did somebody tell you that only christians can have trees, and not atheists or pagans? Because that's crazy talk. Please give me a link to this "rule" (from where? some church somewhere? the federal government?) that pagans cannot have their own pagan trees around christmas time.

That makes sense now. I don't believe in god, and that must be why I have Christmas tree.

Source, please. Who, when, what type of proclamation or edict or Act of Congress. Even if it's just your own fevered imagination.
