I think you are dramatically overestimating the number of people who are as high maintenance as you. |
Have you tried other cupcake stores like Frosting? Not sure if any of them do it, but a phone call is quicker than trying to go out looking for supplies. |
Wow DCUM is fierce today. It must be the soggy weather getting everyone's panties in a bind.
The woman was asking for a table set up people, for a shower that is not her own. Why the snarky comments? I personally like to outsource as much as possible myself and I lack the domestic capability of putting together a nice table. I also coulnd't bake a nice cupcake to save my life. Sorry OP. I don't have much advice to you, but just ignore people. |

Wait, it's a HIGH PROFILE GUEST LIST? Why didn't you say so? This changes everything! Did you tell the good people at Georgetown Cupcake how impressive the guests will be? I can't imagine you did - if you had, I'm sure they would have started making calls immediately to find you someone to set up. Wait, scratch that - they'd obviously have closed down the shop and come over personally to set up the display. Probably would have done a meet and greet, too. OP, if you posted this in the hope if would make you seem more sympathetic/rational - epic fail. I'm begging you, just stop. Because I've been so snarky, I want to be a little helpful too: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=cupcake+stand&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&oe=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=3694910074922100651&sa=X&ei=kUSbTZeHKsajtgeXh9y7Bw&ved=0CEkQ8gIwAw# Here you go - order 2, make sure there's a table free, and you're set. |
Because she is somehow mad at Georgetown Cupcake for not providing her with a "list" of recommended people who do this kind of thing. You know who does this kind of thing? Caterers and party planners. Go google it. Not hard, OP. If your caterer is being snotty about it, you need a new caterer. |
1. A list of recommended vendors would be nice, but I am not surprised they don't have one, nor would I expect them to.
2. If this is so high-profile, it might be good to name-drop with GT Cupcake. They certainly know good PR when they see it. 3. Have you catered such an event before? Sounds like you might need an event planner if renting a table and some linens is that difficult. |
uh...wasn't that sort of what she was trying to do by coming on here? |
Nice revisionist history, OP - go back and read your post. It started that you are "miffed" at Georgetown Cupcake for not catering (hehe) to your every whim. You found it "absolutely inconceivable" that they don't have a list of people who set up cupcake tables for parties (now there's a growth industry). Ninety percent of your post was a vent - the request for help was an afterthought. You could have posted, "Does anyone know of a service that will come and set up a large cupcake display for a baby shower? I'll provide the cupcakes." But no - you felt the need to engage in a ridiculous rant about the failings of Georgetown Cupcake. Now you're complaining that some people are telling you that your vent is off base. Sorry - when you post something silly like this, you're going to get roasted. |
This is DC. I am not at all high maintenance to call a bakery and ask if they have a list. I am trying to fulfill my bff's wish to have G'Town Cupcake without it meaning me missing my kids activities Saturday to go find all the supplies and decorations to set up a really nice cupcake table. G'Town cupcake is a successful bakery/brand with a cable show watched by millions. It is not at all unreasonable to think they would have relationships with event planners. My mistake was in thinking that this was a supportive community of women (and men) who would offer helpful advice where relevant. That's not this at all. This is the "rip apart" forum. |
|
OP - we live in DC, everyone has high profile events so I'm sure some local weather girl doesn't warrant a "high profile baby shower"
That being said, with the amount of press GC has received, I am also surprised they don't have a setup company they work with regularly. Maybe the guy didn't like your attitude? Call back again and ask nicely? |
OH MY WHY WON'T I STOP RESPONDING!!!? WHY DO I WANT TO BE UNDERSTOOD SO BADLY?!?!?! The high profile guest list should mean NOTHING to Georgetown cupcake. It means something to me and the type of baby shower I know the mother-to-be wants. I want the cupcake display to be nice. I want it to be amazing. I am aesthetically challenged and ASKED the cupcake store for HELP with a recommendation. I did not ask G'Town cupcake to STOP PRODUCTION and come set up my cupcakes. You are ridiculous. But if it makes you feel better about your self to rag on me, so be it. |

What I think is funny is that it is going to be pretty easy to figure out who is having the shower. |
