How so? Oh do tell.

I may crash it just to see what the cupcake display looks like.

That being said, with the amount of press GC has received, I am also surprised they don't have a setup company they work with regularly. Maybe the guy didn't like your attitude? Call back again and ask nicely?

No, I'm sure that couldn't be it.

I am loving this thread. I am trying to imagine a world in which my caterer was so snooty that he wouldn't accomodate my trendy cupcakes.

FWIW I went to a party a few months ago that had Gtown mini cupcakes on a tiered cake stand on the main table. There were 50-60 guests there. It was lovely. The caterers restocked the cupcakes as necessary. I don't know if the hostess provided the stand or if the caterer did. But OP you can mail order a tiered stand if you aren't able to get out. Here's one that comes in 3 sizes and can be stacked.

This is a funny thread. OP if you've ever watched their show -- the sisters and mommy are always running around to try to find setups for the cupcakes or having hubby build something. Maybe your hubby can help you. Also, look at cupcake wars sometimes -- they have carpentars come in and make stuff. Go to a craft store--someone will help you with ideas.

Can't believe I'm posting in defense of OP, but check out the "Catering" section under FAQs on GC's website:

And yet it's the bakery that is at fault.

back_in_dc wrote:Okay-- thanks for the snark. Seriously though, if you don't have anything helpful to contrbute, don't bother.

It's a big shower - 60 invitations for a local TV news anchor. SHE wants the G'Town cupcakes, NOT me-- and she is the expectant mom so she gets what she wants. High profile guest list-- and I am happy to seek out a nice cupcake set up with silver cupcake stands or some such other ostentatious display. I am a busy mom of two toddlers. I am not going to run around looking for a circular table, linens, table decor and stands.

Again-- helpful replies are much appreciated.

Gee you sound like a great friend

Seriously, what you do have in mind??? One of the displays you see on one of those stupid cupcake baking competitions? Get a couple of damn cupcake stands from C & B and move on to bigger worries.

OP drop everything and hire a party planer!

OP, you sound really, really angry. I wouldn't want your energy around my baby shower. It also sounds like you've provided so much information about the party that people who know you will figure out who you are. Really, don't embarrass yourself anymore than you already have. Put the computer down, call a caterer who can help you, write them a check and pretend to be a capable gracious hostess.
