Georgetown Cupcake Question

It specifically says on the catering section of GC's website that they will direct you were to rent tiered cupcake stands, and some general language re assisting you - so I do not think that OP is off base with her request. OP, I'd call GC again and ask to speak to an owner. If that gets you nowhere and you really don't want to deal with this yourself, throw some extra money at the caterer to handle it - it's no different a situation (although much smaller scale) than a wedding where the cake comes from a bakery separate than the caterer.

Ha- yeah Katherine or Sophie would love to talk to the OP about how pissed she is that they did not come help her for her TV news anchors shower. Very humurous good joke.

It's a big shower - 60 invitations for a local TV news anchor. SHE wants the G'Town cupcakes, NOT me-- and she is the expectant mom so she gets what she wants. High profile guest list-- and I am happy to seek out a nice cupcake set up with silver cupcake stands or some such other ostentatious display. I am a busy mom of two toddlers. I am not going to run around looking for a circular table, linens, table decor and stands.

Again-- helpful replies are much appreciated.

You probably would have received many more helpful responses (including one from me) without this. Seriously, who cares? High profile guest list? What does that have to do with where to get tables? Nothing.

And just once, I'd like to hear a Mom admit that she has the time, but really just doesn't want to do it. Why does everyone always talk incessantly about how busy they are?

Her question and vent has all these PP's sooooo angry, yet they judge OP for being angry at Gtown Cupcake? Is that not hypocritical?

I think it is because most of us can't relate to someone who needs to hire people to put out premade cupcakes for 50-60 people. And the idea that she can't be running around buying a tablecloth and a cake stand because she has 2 children - like the rest of us don't.

I'm going to have to agree here. Yada, yada...we all have full lives, work full time, kids, elderly parents with issues - but I totally see this woman and her fake nails, clutching her pearls, shouting "why won't someone help me, boo!"

she could have knocked this out herself if she had devoted the time she spent on this thread to finding her own solution.

Quick! A cupcakein! A breastfeedin! Boycott! We must mobilize with a facebook page outlining our displeasure at once.

Ladies! To the bat-cave!

OMG, i was reading this thread while in a meeting with my boss and laughed out loud. Whoops!!! Hmmmmm....if there's going to be a cupcakein, please count me in!! Even if it's overrated GT cupcakes!

I've seen cupcakes coming IN the backdoor.

Call a wedding Planner, if they don't have a wedding scheduled for your party day I'd bet they'd do something for a few hundred bucks.

Ok, so I'm lame enough to have watched some of the show, and I think I recall that they have a second kitchen around the corner from the main store (maybe it was their old store?), and they probably do some of the cooking there.

Come to think of it, I've never smelled anything baking at the Bethesda location. I've seen them frosting the cupcakes but never baking them.

As long as they bake the cupcakes themselves, as opposed to contracting out to some other entity, I'm not really bothered by this. In fact, even if they contracted out, I could understand. How many Georgetown storefronts have kitchens that can produce hundreds, maybe thousands, of cupcakes a day?

That said, I've always wondered what sort of fats they put into the icing to get it so smooth. My friend who took a cake-making class said you can't get really smooth, creamy icing without using Crisco or its equivalent.
