Loud, Useless, Cheeping Birds Outside My Window; how to get rid them?

Anonymous
Sheesh. A lot of mean unhelpful comments. The cheeping would drive me nuts. Just wait and do nothing for a few weeks. Either you will get used to it and not wake up anymore, or when daylight savings day comes, the birds will be cheeping an hour later then usual, so you will hopefully be awake by then anyways.

Thank you for understanding. I don't hate nature--I love birds; especially roasted with a nice cranberry glaze, served with a chilled, spicy gewürtztraminer.

You should see Failure to Launch. Zooey Deschanel's character has the same problem and deals with it in hilarious fashion.

Wind chimes. Put a bird feeder as far away as your window as possible.

happened in a tree outside my window last spring. neighbors (connected townhomes) ided the bird as a mockingbird, that chirped loud, starting at around midnight, hourly til 4 am. Apparently, they stop when they find a mate. It lasted about 4 weeks. I moved to a bedroom in the back of the house. It was horrible.

OP- These are good suggestions--bedroom at back of house won't work --our room extends the full width of the top of the house. I believe this could be a mocking bird. At least it is mocking me.

When I lived in North Carolina, I think I actually cracked one day and threw a shoe at a tree with the bird that had been chirping. I think some of the nasty posters have no idea just how loud birds can be. It was like it was sitting on my head with a shrill whistle.

My husband solved all noise problems - he uses one of those cheap box fans. It has to be cheap. Don't be getting one of those quiet ones. After you get used to the sound of an airplane in your room, you will sleep soundly. But one word of warning, you may want to keep it on low. We actually slept through a fire alarm at our apartment complex - it was that effective. So now I make him keep it on low and we keep our bedroom door open (so I have a chance of hearing my son if he needs me).

Only way to get rid of them is to put out bird feed that has a contraceptive in it. Then they will not come back next year.
Research it you will find out more. What kind of birds are they?

Hang a feeder outside the window and add the bird killer concoction.

Have you ever seen all the seeds on the ground after a bird has been feeding there? Cats, dogs, other wildlife can easily get to it. Not to mention, what a mean thing to do to songbirds.

OP here. Sorry I won't poison them. But I did run out in the middle of the night and stand in my garden throwing handfuls of pea gravel at one. I drank a shot of Jack and they had started up again before I could climb back into bed. So, there's that.

White noise machine, ear plugs (very moldable good ones). Birds are nothing compared to the sound of DH snoring!
