If you are playing U13 and up for the first time next year in either ECNL/ RL or GA/ Aspire... yes, pay attention to how well your team is doing in the standings and don't plan summer trips in June next summer as you would be expected to travel for a playoff or showcase event(s)...It seems by July all events are done though. |
ECNL playoffs are in July, and GA National finals are in July (these playoffs determine teams that advance). |
So basically you can’t plan anything for the summer. Quite a trade-off. |
| Yeah, if you want to play travel soccer at a level that involves actually travel and showcase opportunities, it kind of comes with the deal. Theres plenty of rec leagues that have wrapped up already if that's your cup of tea 🙄 |
Every big league pretty much have summer playoffs. I mean IF you're in youth soccer, especially at a high level, you pretty much play every summer and if you're trying to get recruited, you go to these to get noticed. And those who aren't doing that, they're maybe doing ODP OR college camps OR summer leagues/tourneys OR local camps that area coaches put on. |
First year at this level and they didn’t give me a handbook. I’m trying to understand what is expected so we can plan appropriately. Don’t be a jerk. |
My advice is take your vacation in the summer when you want. Especially at U13-U15 when it doesn’t matter. Soccer will still be there when you get back and in the long run it won’t matter one bit. |
I apologize (honestly) I've been jaded and worn down by years of this soccer life - and this board in particular |
| Is anyone else having trouble getting the gotsport schedule page to load? Mine is stuck in the recapatcha circle |
ECNL playoffs are only in July this year to avoid the World Cup. Usually they are in June and so girls have July “off” (of club at least). |
Yes. Miss the playoffs and go to the beach instead. I’m sure that will go over well with teammates. |
It won't, but thats when the club just calls up guest players from team 2 or team 1 the year below. |
| Celtic 2013s with the only wins on the day for the U13 and U14 age groups. Some ties. |
Teammates won’t care. More playing time for them. When you look back in 5, 10 years you will be glad you spent family time and will chuckle at how little importance the U13 summer soccer tournament has. |
Yes. The beach trip will really matter… |
