What are your small indulgences?

My husband ordered a teapot for my birthday that matches the 4 teacups we bought a long time ago. It's from a Japanese collection and not easily found here. My friend got me Lavender Earl Grey from Mariages Freres in Paris.

So now I have a blissful Earl Grey moment in the morning when I use my teapot and the matching teacup.

Also, I like to smell my fragrant roses in my front yard.

Good coffee beans. I finally bought a good smart grinder a year or so ago, so with that and the high quality small batch beans I buy, I have really good coffee at home. Sometimes I make a batch of homemade chocolate syrup for a mocha on the weekends.

A new plant. I have a rowhouse, so the front "yard" is tiny, but I've planted a few nice things each year, and been really intentional about placement and soil amendment. Now it's looking super lush and fancy and has three-season interest and it makes me really happy.

You put Earl Grey tea in a Japanese teapot and cup? And it's "lavender" Earl Grey? Ok.

Jeezus. Take it easy Oscar Wilde. This will only end in tears.

Sometimes, instead of the store brand nonfat Wegman’s Greek yogurt I usually buy, I will buy a few specialty yogurts. My favorite is Ithaca Milk with cream on top. Creamy and delicious. I’ve tried maple and lemon.

Monthly pedicures March - November

House cleaner every other week

If I am doing a trip to Costco for the family (monthly), I always buy a box of raspberries or blackberries and eat them on the way home - the entire package

When we retired 6 months ago we agreed this was the one thing we’d keep. Ours is every three weeks and only our main floor.

Can you convince my spouse for me?

I am trying to move away from food as comfort and am leaning into skincare instead. Nothing fancy and not watching videos, but wandering the aisle at TJ maxx and picking things that look fun!

You had better be careful with that, you’ll squirt your eye out.

My daughter just introduced us to Hint water. They are about a dollar each when buying a pack on Amazon. Zero calories and no artificial sweeteners. They're infused with flavor. I love the watermelon ones. I'm super cheap, so this is a real splurge.
