When do you work out? Morning? Afternoon? Evening?

Anonymous
Afternoon or evening. I prefer afternoon because I already wake up as early as I can stand, I have no interest in a 4:30 AM workout. Plus I'm tired and my muscles are a LOT more stiff and tense in the morning.

Right after work is my favorite but the hardest time to fit in, and sometimes I feel like I should be spending more time with my kids in that window. Evening is OK but if I start after kids are asleep it does tend to throw off my own sleep schedule.

I do 3 full body weight sessions and 2 runs. Both rest days are weekdays, ideally.

Do you eat?

Before I work out? No, I don't. It would make me sick to my stomach. I do drink a big glass of water before and sip from my water bottle throughout, though. I definitely eat after. Usually egg whites (I don't like yolks) and fruit or a yogurt with granola.

I cant work out on an empty stomach. I’d throw up.

This, plus I can only do cardio fasting. If I have eaten anything in the prior 6 or so hours I get horrible reflux. My aim is always every day M-F, often I skip one of those days because of an appt. or early meeting or I am too tired on a Monday. Probably 4 days/week mostly.

Same! No food before workout ever! Then bfast, then the rest of whatever the day brings.

Mornings at 5am. Yes, I am very consistent and have done this for close to 6 yrs now. I lift weights and run. I love that it is less crowded in the morning; my gym is overrun with the HS crowd after work and I hate fighting for equipment.

I will sometimes run in the evening and on the weekends I go at random times.

Evenings three times a week but that's a recent thing because we're empty nesters and I don't have kid demands anymore after work.

Mornings, gym by my office 5 days a week. I set out my workout clothes and office clothes the night before, and am out the door in 15 minutes. Then I shower at the gym. Then run on Saturday and a long walk on Sunday. M-F alternate cardio and weights. Once you get into the habit you'll notice that you feel better.

I am full of admiration for these responders.

Morning. I can't do it at night, it keeps me awake.

I WFH, so I tend to take a class at 5 twice a week, occasionally I can sneak away at noon on a Friday for a class that's a short walk away.

In the morning I'll go for a walk a few times per week. So I guess lightly both.

Wake at 5:30, work out 6-7, M-F, don't eat anything before working out. Spouse and I always walk on weekends, sometimes just a couple of miles around the neighborhood, sometimes we'll go to the canal or Great Falls

Morning on an empty stomach. I hate working out after eating, and once I’m done with work, I just want to get home.

Gym workouts are in the morning (largely so I only shower once) and other exercise happen at various points in the day.

Morning at 4:30 because I need to leave for work at 6:30.

It was a tough habit to get into, but I love it now!

My kids are in high school, and I work from home about half the time, so I have a nice window. I usually work out from like 7:15-8:15. If I have an 8:30 call, I just adjust and make sure I'm done on time.

I usually have half a cup of coffee and eat a graham cracker before working out. Mostly run, sometimes weights or yoga.

I don't like after-work workouts because by then, I'm usually tired, stressed, or hungry. Or all of those things.
