Off season 1-2 texts a week and 1 phone call… same for other parent.
In season we texting same, talk 1-2 times a week, face to face 1x per week. |
| We usually text about something nearly every day, then we facetime a few times a week. This kid is communicative. The next one won't be. I will have to hunt him down for proof of life. |
| Daily. He's a commuter student. |
|
Often multiple times a day. Rarely skip a day. Although some days it may just be texts vs a call. He also calls his Grandparents several times a week (they are on the west coast, he is on the east coast so often late nights for him, he calls them). I'm not "allowed" to call him -- but he calls enough that I can wait or send a text if it is something i don't want to forget.
Younger brother will probably NOT be the same - he's more of a, bruh, yeah, ok kinda kid now (although when he wants to share, you better be ready)! |

2 boys (sophomores)
Text a few times a week (typically for a specific reason/reminder/question) We all exchange a selfie on Saturdays Typically Facetime on Sundays. |
| A call or text daily. He reaches out to me or his step dad, depending on the issue. We discuss classes, projects, sports, politics, weather, food, finances, roommates, girlfriend, current job, interviews, our dogs, exercise. Just about anything. He likes to share and we like hearing about him life. |

Son- daily
Daughters- almost daily |
| Face time once a week. Multiple tests a week. Junior girl. |
| Boy. Texts a couple times a week. Maybe 1-2 calls a week. I still wonder if that’s helicoptering but this isn’t 1990 when we called our parents once a week. |
| Girl - calls most days (5-6 days a week) and texts on days too busy to call (usually to say good night). |
| We FaceTime every Sunday and then exchange messages (mostly just fun stuff) on a family group chat a couple times a week. |
| Boy— about once a month. More if he chooses. |
Not the op but come on: classes, exam, roommate, the weather, politics, gossip, friends, family news, family pet, classes for next semester, weekend plans…. Same stuff you’d talk about at home |
| Multiple times a day, whether text or phone call. My dd likes to chat on the way to class, at breakfast, to show me her outfit of the day and whatever else goes on. She's always been chatty with me. She's overseas now and still contacts me multiple times a day to check in. She also likes to know what I'm up to and how the dog is and her dad. |

Two girls: one calls multiple times a day (FaceTiming to get outfit opinions, calls on way to class and other places, etc). The other one calls about 3-4 times a week on her way home at night (she walks alone and feels better in the phone).
We also have an active family group text and send each other videos on Instagram. |
