Stats? In state or OOS? apply for aid?

OOS no aid. 3.7/1490, nothing crazy for ECs but strong recommendations and well known private

Nice!! Congratulations!!

Watching reddit, it seemed like all the initial posts were deferrals, and now acceptanced posters are trickling in. It's possible that decisions were slightly staggared.

Really weird. This will make people hesitate to try ED next year if they're just going to be strung along.

Of course they accepted people.

The number of ED applications is massive, as you know. So just because everyone in your small sample got deferred, it doesn’t mean that no one got in. 🙄

By the way, one of DD’s camp friends in NYC got in ED. So add that to your anecdotal knowledge.

How many ED apps were there?

I know that they received over 100K applications. I can't remember where I saw the number. Looking now.

They get >100k overall. not just EA or ED

What’s so special about Michigan? Like sure great school, but 100,000 for a good state school feels insane.

Don't believe this. Please post the source

People are inventing stats. This is the first year they have done ED and have not released data on numbers of applications. the 100K number is the total number of applications (EA + RD) in previous years.

Lit magazine; stuco. English major. Good stats but not crazy.

I find it very odd that you are posting the ECs of someone at your child’s high school!!!!
I’m sure their parents would be delighted to read this !!

It’s very popular in affluent suburbs in major metro areas (Scarsdale, Wilmette, etc) where kids want “rah rah” culture with strong academics and reputation. Plus there a lot of legacies across the country whose kids apply. Additionally, it’s very sought for in-state students since it’s a great deal and the state of Michigan doesn’t have any big, private universities.

If true, and let’s say all Americans, they just raised 7.5MM dollars doing nothing. Go Blue! Almost 8MM dollars to weed out the Ivy safety school applicants.

You are correct. These were the total numbers for last year. Sorry.

Does this not describe every state school ever?
