Everything is down: people's income, the economy, jobs, joy, everything is muted and dour
People's incomes are not down... https://usafacts.org/answers/are-wages-keeping-up-with-inflation/country/united-states/ Private sector employment (the kind that generates prosperity) is up, while public sector (the kind that slows growth) is down. My joy is just fine. What is changing is that women are increasingly abandoning responsibility for traditions because they are too busy making money to pay someone else to do things for their life, instead of just doing it themselves. Also up? Single person households with less margin for extra tasks.
Good for women. I’m done with traditions that mostly fall on us to plan and execute. You can’t push us into roles we no longer want.
+1. I’m a single mom, and I keep domestic work to a bare minimum. We do a tree but that’s it, no other decorations. Honestly expectations for parents, employees, etc have gotten completely out of control. There’s no bandwidth for anything else.
