No Super markets or 7-11 but there is CVS.

It’s also a 25 minute drive to the closest hospital, Germantown Holy Cross.

Shady Grove Hospital is also 25 min away

You should also check out Laytonsville area. Not as far out but still pretty good size homes/lots - 1 ac+

Look at Darnestown, Damascus, Ashton/Sandy Spring too. Also North Potomac.

Laytonsville resident here. Yeah, its rural but you can probably get a home that's an acre plus for about $1 million or so, at least starting off. As a resident, I have no idea what they're trying to do with the town. Seems like they want to keep the rural aspects going, but also recognize with more development comes more expectations (city sewer for example). I do know there's about 100 acres or so that's been set aside for development but not sure when that's being kicked off.

Honestly I love it, it's quiet. The only thing lacking is amenities as you have to drive 10-15 minutes to get to a supermarket or a Dunkin, etc.

+1. The only difference I see between Laytonsville and Poolesville is that you can get to multiple places in 10-15 min from Laytonsville - Olney, Goshen, Germantown, and Gaithersburg. From Poolesville, you only have one way down Rt 28.

Poolesville has better schools than Laytonsville. The ferry closing was a big blow to Poolesville.

Actually, there is a large county swimming pool. (not a Poolesville resident, but have attended an event there).

Also, a skatepark, OP.

If you're proper outdoorsy -- mountain biking, hunting, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, cycling, trail running, farms, etc -- you'll be close to (if not ON) a lot of great options.

You can go hunting, (mtn biking, stables, etc) and make it to work by 9am -- if that's important to you.

If you just want a big yard, I'd pick somewhere that's closer to shops and amenities. It's a haul, even into Potomac or Kentlands.

(And it's even more isolated with the ferry down; White's Ferry made it convenient to Leesburg and the shopping/dining options there -- which really up the culture quotient IMHO.)

I do not like these suggestions. They are difficult than Poolesville/Laytonsville homes.

OP here.

Thanks for the suggestions and insight!

If we can, I'd like for us to take a little trip up to Poolesville and surrounding areas this weekend!
