Apart from that the area has some cancer clusters, just google it

The Dickerson incinerator. It's a very unfortunate no for me to live near the Potomac River in that general area. If you want to go down a rabbit hole you can go back through the decades and everything that has gone on in this saga.

"The emissions from the incinerator include substances known to affect respiratory health, contribute to smog, and persist in ecosystems. Residents have long blamed the facility for elevated rates of cancer and chronic respiratory illness in the surrounding area."

OP here. Holy shhhh.. thank you to you and the other PP who brought this to my attention... I would have never known otherwise!!

Aside from this problem that the county is still trying to "figure out," I read that Poolesville also has a water problem in the sense that their wells are drying up and even in town water is an issue.

Welp, I'd say those two things together would have me crossing it off our list.. sigh..

Many thanks to those who have contributed their input!!

Those aren't great reasons. The incinerator is a NIMBY issue. Some people don't like it for various reasons, but there's no evidence of health problems. And air quality is still going to be better than many other areas in the county, with vehicle exhaust being a bigger problem. Similarly, Poolesville has good water quality in part because they don't pull from the Potomac. At some point, both Poolesville and WSSC will likely have to upgrade their systems to filter PFOS.

I'd not take those posts seriously. Probably some bored kids posting.

No Super markets or 7-11 but there is CVS.

It’s also a 25 minute drive to the closest hospital, Germantown Holy Cross.
