Those days have passed. Biden tried to be consiliatory, tried to be bi-partisan, tried to be normal and that didn't work. At this point, Trump and MAGA have made it clear that liberals and anyone not a straight, white, christian male is the enemy of the state. How does the country come together when those statements are not repudiated?

Biden was an inadequate leader, Trump is terrible leader. When we have a legitimate president again, everyone will realize what we've been missing. We have no choice but to be patient and then take our voting privileges much more seriously in future elections. This time will pass.

I honestly don't think this is true anymore. A bunch of us elected a life long criminal to the highest office. A bunch of us are cheering on our descent into fascism. A bunch of us refused to wear masks, get vaccinated, or do anything that contributes to the common good. A bunch of us want religious indoctrination in our schools. A bunch of us want to reinstate White supremacy and patriarchy as the law of the land. A bunch of us are totally fine with suspending due process for people of color and immigrants. A bunch of us want to see LGBT people erased from public life, and even criminalized.

We are very divided and have starkly different values that inform how we want to live. Ignoring that fact is exactly what has brought us to this point. A peaceful breakup and coexistence is the best we can hope for.

Yep. The hate expressed by the Republicans and red states means only a fool would trust those people not to kill “libs” or if you are from a blue state. There is no way back to what we had. The only way forward is to break it apart. The red states can install Trump as king and the blue states can remain a democracy.
