Can we all agree that all taxpayers in FFX County deserve to send to their kids to safe schools where academic achievement is not hindered by kids who either misbehave or hold the class back due to poor English comprehension? To that end, the simplest solution to the boundary fiasco would be to put underperforming students and those with behavior problems into separate facilities. There have to be consequences for misbehavior, and incentives to learn and speak English at a level consistent with learning at a normal pace.

Stop conflating education and real estate. Stop the fighting over school boundaries. Support kids who want to learn with opportunities to be challenged by like-minded peers, and stop apologizing for poor performance.

Well said. Thank you.

NP. If you think it's such a simple solution get to work. Good luck.

Expand and tell us when a child is “proficient” enough in English to sit next to your child. Who is testing them and when can they move from the brown room to yours?

I don't agree with OP. But, I do think that central office cuts and other administrative cuts could go a very long way to helping students.

There's a graph out that shows how much administration has grown over classrooms. It is very disturbing. And, just look at all the high paid people in administration in FCPS.

Yeah….. but it wouldn’t fund what the OP wants here even if you cut a bunch of central office. This would vastly reroute and reallocate a TON Of money for transportation and not be a good use of space in general. Think of all the walkers who would now need bus routes etc.

I mean the OP is angry about the boundary’s, but ALL the boundaries would need to be redrawn in this “plan” which shows you just how ill thought out the comment is.

1.2 out of 5 stars for trolling attempt though!

Solutions so simple in fact that they are very likely to simultaneously run afoul of Brown v. Board of Education and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Just ignore the law, it will easy.

Turn the new KAA school into a dedicated ELL school?

Sure sure and then there are empty classrooms all over the county. What are you going to do with those? It isn’t an even trade and there would be MASSIVE boundary shifts for everyone.
It runs counter to the OPs point that boundary changes are hurting real estate to then institute even greater systemic boundary changes. OP…… is kind of clueless to reality.

Cut out technology full stop in the classroom.
There's approximately .7 non teaching positions for every teaching position.

As for your question about proficiency, when they're on grade level for SOLs? Let them get additional support in a specific classroom/school so they can get up to speed ASAP!

Federal law prohibits what you are suggesting, at least for English as a Second Language students.

Brilliant. But administrators, SB and most of all Michelle herself have no interest in common sense solutions. Heck, they keep creating endless problems!

And her suggestions are illegal, so there's that.

Google "Least Restrictive Environment" OP.

Hint, it applies to the non English speaking students and many of the behavior problems.

If you want this to happen, you would need to start at the federal level with your congressman, and work backwards from there

Move out “underperforming students”? I imagine there are underperforming students who do indeed want to succeed but have difficulty due to factors that are not under their control.
