I wonder how involved April Key was in this mess. Aren’t background checks a key part of the hiring process?

At my work (security) they run background checks on us annually for that reason.

Mcps sent out a background check message to families (the week they know families are vacationing) to get ahead of news releases.


All of them should be out.

Given that one of the letters to DHHS was by the new head of HR, it's safe to say April was very involved in this mess.

Although, to be fair to her, the backlog and non-compliance preceded even HER as it apparently started in 2019. She only joined MCPS in 2023.
