At first glance, this seems like what’s happening, but if that’s the case why isn’t there a “coming soon” like other schools? UVA literally has that they aren’t required on the common app section and nothing on their admissions site. |
|
From the Commonapp UVA application right now:
“ Writing Supplement This college does not use a writing supplement for any additional writing requirements.” |
Did you not get the memo? Dean J and her dog are omnipotent. |
No supplements anymore would be crazy. Agree their numbers would go through the roof. Dean J said they were coming? |
| Dean J updated her blog. No supplementals this year (with the exception of Nursing applicants). |
Omnipotence can be arbitrary. |
| If I remember correctly sometimes the supplements appear in the college’s portal AFTER you submit the Common app. |
| Just one of many changes coming to uva courtesy of the maga board. |
Dean J said the CA is correct, there are no supplementals this year. |
OMGGGGG |
Wow, this is a huge change! I wonder why they did this? Too much to read? Politics? |

There's a prompt for nursing, but not for the other programs. |
| With AI, I see a future where no essays will be required. |
This part links to 2022 essay questions, so sounds like the connection and background essays were written by a "committee.”

I think it's good news. That second writing prompt last year was ridiculous.
As many have said, with AI and counselors/parents helping, the essays shouldn't be big decision makers IMO. |
