Between Gaza and Iran, has Israel gone too far?

As it should be.

You think so, do you?

Anyone can be a brave keyboard warrior. Are you prepared to put action behind your brave words, and cheer on for YOUR children to sign up to go fight over there, because Israel will definitely involve the U.S.

Trump has signed us up for a long war. What a liar he turned out to be.

No, instead it's acting rationally and predictably in the face of clearly articulated threats from a regime devoted to its destruction. Iran's proxies, Hamas and Hezbollah, are similarly committed and have been effectively defanged. The Houthis, also Iranian proxies, are largely impotent even if periodically irritating, and have been slapped down as needed. Iran itself is the remaining potentially viable threat to Israel's existence, and its proximity to their acquisition of a nuclear aggression capability makes their neutralization necessary at this time.

Ideally, this will end with a regime change in Iran. Without Iran's financial and material support, their proxies will cease to pose any meaningful threat, and stability for the region may be possible. The other Arab nations in the ME are fine with peaceful co-existence; it's Iran and its proxies which foment religiously-inspired terror and violence.

Mind is that israel knows that Trump will do whatever they want. They didn’t have unconditional US support before.

Can someone please enlighten me?

No Israel has not gone too far. The timing of the attack on Iran is simple. Negotiations between US and Iran were not progressing so Iran received a sample of what would happen if they don’t fall in line.

Actually, Iran has gone too far by targeting civilians.

Hahaha do you even hear yourself? 20 months of attacks on civilians by israel - wtaf. How is this different… i’ll wait

You will wait forever. What Iranian civilians has Israel been targeting for 20 months?

I cannot believe that people justify Israel’s action.

Worst case scenario:
America gets dragged in
Gulf nations get dragged in
Israel fails to destroy Irans nuclear capability
There’s a global economic shock
Irans regime falls, leaving a vacuum

Israel’s end game, whatever that is, is a gamble

Calm down.
No one is asking your children to get involved.

Note that other countries in the ME are not condemning the attack on Iran. You know why? Because they approve. They don’t want Iran to have nuclear weapons either.

This all started when the Biden/Harris administration returned $6B in frozen Iranian assets. That money funded the Hamas attack on Israel, the Houthi attacks out of Yemen, built the drones provided to the Russians in their war against Ukraine and helped advance Iran’s nuclear program.

Israel is dealing with the existential threat it faces due to its proximity to Iran. They provided a warning with the first attack. Now further action will be dictated by Iran’s response. The world will be a safer place if Iran’s ability to support terror in the Middle East and around the world is eliminated.

Gaza, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and many more countries would be a safer place if Israel's ability to support terror in the Middle East and around the world of eliminated.

That makes you an extremist.

I am no expert, but I am pretty sure current activities are being coordinated between Israel and the US.

New poster here but ok as long as they only target Gazan citizens it’s all good. At least your admitting they target citizens in Gaza.

Look at what happened in the US after Vietnam. Look at how the Soviet empire collapsed after Afghanistan. Israel could win this battle and lose the war or they may just out right lose.

One thing that has been made clear to Iran. If you have weapon stockpiled and ready to strike, strike or lose the opportunity.

The drone war in the Ukraine Russia war will spread. This is just the start. Smart drones controlled by AI are going to level the battlefield. I do not see Israel able to counter it. The US is not prepared for this.

Final Israel is now very rightwing religious extremist country. The ultra orthodox are growing fast, live off the state and refuse military service. They are openly hostile to it.

I see the US walking away from Israel. We are leaving NATO, Europe and the rest of the world to the own interests. These other countries do not care about Israel. The US has protected both militarily and politically Israel. Even against our on interest. The days of this are coming to an end.

The US does not have the influence it once had as leader of the free world. The US is pulling out of protecting Europe. Middle East oil mainly goes to China. We do not want to give aid to any country. What does Israel offer the US?

The ultra orthodox are required to serve now. They even protested, what a bunch of hateful lazy hypocrites.

I don't want to waste my tax money on Israel, we have no problem dropping the rest of the world.

I've lost my patience with the entire Middle East. I realize 95% of the people in that region are as peaceful and loving as everyone else in the world. Those people need to rise up and overthrow the IDF, Hamas, Hezbollah, Khamenei, Netanyahu,... all of them! Hang their heads up high for any future tyrant wannabes to see.

Otherwise, I'm done caring. They can all kill each other if that's what they prefer. Much of the world is just sick and tired of hearing about their murderous ways.

Except that the rest of the world directly benefits from those murderous ways. Your take is naive to geopolitics.

The only way to truly get the US and China and their respective vassals out of that area — because those states are what is driving a lot of what is going on — is energy independence. And that means extensive drilling in the US.
