How do you know these people and now others? In DMV?

I’ve lived in 12 cities in 8 states and two other countries. I’ve worked in rural red states for illiterate patients who don’t have health insurance and socialized with DC’s power circle. My life is no bubble.

No one you know in DC's power circle went to Harvard? Or they didn't "benefit" from Harvard's policy because they look like someone who deserves to be there?

They benefited by being rich and connected. That’s not a DEI admissions policy. That’s been true since they opened their doors.

And I’ll add, you seem to be confused about my point.

White, rural, red state admits with lower than average stats get admitted in the spirit of diversity, but they SO don’t understand DEI, they don’t realize they benefited from it. They think *they* were admitted on merit. Typical of modern republicans.

I am all for DEI. And I am disgusted by the advantage that rich, connected people have in all admissions.

Harvard should do the funniest thing - just shut out all the rich & politico families for the next 5 years. Only allow in kids with 1600 SATs. It will be 75% Asian after 5 years and wealthy MAGAs will be HOWLING.

Well looking at the numbers there seems to be a religious set aside at Harvard.

Undergraduate Enrollment

1,800 Jewish Students (25.5%*)
7,062 Students
*Percent of population
Graduate Enrollment

500 Jewish Students (10.8%*)
4,652 Students
*Percent of population

https://www.hillel.org/college/harvard-university/

Apparently there a big debate in some circles about the decline of Jewish students at Harvard(and Ivy League in general). The people who are upset say the percentage of Jewish students is 10%. Hillel says it is 25%. So the number is most likely somewhere between those two percentages.

Don’t really care but if we are enforcing some type of quota or preference with DEI or not DEI why is one religion exempt from this? Jews make up 2% of the population but are accepted to Harvard at much higher numbers 10-25%. This seems to indicate a preference or affirmative action for one religion. If anti DEI crowd is so upset about unfair preference/advantages in admissions why are they silent on this?

"The 14-page letter about the False Claims Act investigation this week from the Justice Department, signed by Jamie Ann Yavelberg, the director of the agency’s commercial litigation branch, did not detail exactly how Harvard may have defrauded the government."

Seems like competent attorneys should be able to get this dismissed. The problem is for individuals and entities who cannot afford such representation.

Why do you think MAGA will be upset about admissions being merit based? We aren’t the party that freaks out over Asians being both bright and successful.

Or maybe, just like the higher rate versus population, similar to Asian enrollment, is do to study habits and family upbringing.

Well MAGA from under-represented states like Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky and such will be upset when their geographic hook/minority status no longer compensates for their lower stats.

You and I both know the numbers of poor magas that get admitted into Harvard is close to zero.

There would be drops in certain demographics, for certain, if your SAT standards were put into place.

Yes the SAT is the only thing that should be considered! You can’t game the SAT. Answering 11th and 12th grade algebra, geometry and some basic trigonometry questions in under a minute and 22 seconds is just like college or the job you will have went you graduate. GPA and teacher recommendations are out.

MAGA being brilliant again!

You’re wrong. The south has a lot of UMC MAGA. They’re “prosperity Christians”. And they’re not poor, they’re rural. But that’s good enough for the diversity boost. There’s an entire Alabama-DC pipeline right now with GOP and Heritage leaders grooming young MAGA for political futures.

really? I don't think you have visited Harvard lately. Why don't you walk around the campus, count the number of people wearing MAGA hats, and report back.

100% if it turned out this way (T10 colleges being 75% Asian), you'd see MAGA heads explode and want to cut immigration from Asian countries, and want more "holistic" approaches like location because most of the Asian Americans live in a handful of metro areas. Most of us realize that MAGA are going after brown skin people because they are the easier targets today. Once they find a final solution to that problem, they will turn onto the next group.
