You are only imaging the stereotype of MAGA. The southern country clubs are full of preppy, well-dressed WASPy doctor/lawyer/business UMC and wealthy MAGA. They’d never own or wear the red hat, and they have impeccable manners, but they are 100% on the Trump train. Maybe you are the one who should plan a road trip. |
Maybe it was your religion? |
The legacy lacrosse, crew, horsey, and football families would be foaming at the mouth if their kids got shut out of the Ivies. Country Club MAGA is absolutely a thing. And it would be funny if Harvard was like "Alright we a going full-speed Gaokao, buckle up." Harvard would be completely Asian and Eastern-European within five years. It would be an entirely new class of elites. |
I'm just glad the ivies are finally getting torched by the toxic products they have looooooooong produced that have been ruining the country for decades. Think of all of the douchebags ivies produce like the McKinsey Consultants who have done many horrifically bad things over decades and started the whole trend of grossly excessive CEO pay. Or allll of the nasty private equity douches they produce who ruin all of our healthcare and way of life. Or all of the scum they produce on Wall Street that ruined everyone's life during 2008.
Finally the chickens have come home to roost and schools like Harvard are getting a taste of their own medicine. Now they too can suffer like Americans have for decades after Harvard's grads at McKinsey have gutted worker safety, shipped all our jobs overseas, and killed thousands of Americans by coming up with the whole strategy of how to help Purdue pharma maximize profits while pushing opioids onto the public. Harvard can eat crow. |
What’s wrong with people like that? |
Going to Harvard doesn't make you elite. Going to Harvard is something elites do. Asians are already taking over corporate America. |
Sorry your religion makes stupidity and ignorance a virtue and that makes you bad at school. |
Your religion is showing. |
Elites go to Ivies. Period. Every elite Republican is an Ivy grad. You know who wasn’t an elite Ivy grad? Joe Biden. And you despised him. |

I think you are wrong. In California where the advent of race blind admissions led to an outcome of Asian-dominated admissions to the UC schools the conservatives have accepted it. The Top 10% rule (now top 6%) in Texas has made it virtually impossible for rich white kids from wealthy public schools to get into UT and TAMU and conservatives in Texas have accepted that outcome (in fact, it has led to a boom for state flagships in neighboring states as rich white kids from Texas who are blocked from the top two Texas schools seek other options). Meanwhile, disadvantaged Texas kids from URM households have gotten an easier path into UT and TAMU. Personally, I think the Texas solution is the most elegant, though it would be hard to translate to private schools. I think the key with the Texas system is that conservatives feel like there is a pathway to get their kids to UT and TAMU, even if they choose not to exercise or pursue that pathway. The problem with race-conscious admissions is that you are using factors that cannot be changed. Texas and California are imperfect comps to your scenario, but they at least suggest a race-neutral admissions system will be accepted by conservatives even if their kids still struggle under that system. -Latino parent |
