Clemson is a way better school.

Based on what? Demerits if you cite “the rankings”

If kid wants to work in dc after graduation, JMU is a great place to have alumni connections.

To me it is not worth an extra $120k for 4 years of Clemson vs JMU business.

+ 1.

JMU is Big 3

What does your kid want, and what are you comfortable paying for? Choosing Clemson over JMU might be somewhat of a luxury unless Clemson offers significantly better employment outcomes. While Clemson has gained national recognition in recent years, it's worth considering whether it's actually known for being a good school. JMU is less recognized outside the DMV region, but seems to be gaining popularity with the OOS crowd.

You're kidding right? JMU is in the middle of nowhere. And it's not exactly a close walk from the campus to the town of Harrisonburg. Clemson is a much more vibrant college town hands down. That said, I'm not sure it's worth the OOS cost and the closest convenient airport is 45 min away. My DD crossed off both these schools for these same reasons.

For undergraduate business, Clemson’s higher costs aren’t worth it. Save the money for grad school. The DMV job market is familiar with JMU and gives it an advantage. Nationally, Clemson is better known. Most important, a top student at JMU will be treated the same as a top student at Clemson or most other colleges.

FWIW, I was impressed with how much the Clemson Admissions and even the tour guide (who was in the business school) emphasized getting jobs for their graduates.

Never toured nor interested in JMU, so can't compare.

Clemson is not worth OOS. My whole family went there and I’d never pay for my kids to go OOS.

I disagree on both counts.

Please explain how you think Harrisonburg is a better college town than Clemson!? Harrisonburg is a dump for the most part.

Have you been to Clemson? Way more to do in Harrisonburg.

+1
Clemson has nothing except the university.

+2

A two block long downtown.

Smarter kids (based on incoming student stats), foyiner girls, better weather, better sports, better outcomes, better name recognition on a national level. And yes, it's ranked much higher.

Atlanta is a center of gravity for jobs for Clemsn students. DC area for JMU. A factor to consider for business majors.

Agree. To me the only benefit is that Clemson is a more fun college town, is warmer, and has a tad more recognition for its business school. If it had a much better business program, then I would highly consider. I just don't see the advantage in the long run when it comes to internships, job outlook, etc.
