Why is being called an “incel” an insult to men in the “manosphere”?

If you're part of the group, you can use the word.

They're incels so it's fine for them to call themselves incels. If you're not an incel, you're assumed to be part of the group that's persecuting them (i.e. normal people who can get laid), so it's not okay.

It's part of the whole persecution delusion the "manosphere" is so full of. Won't someone think of the white guys?!

Plenty of slurs for whitey, like for example, whitey, cracker, honkie, whitebread, white-a$$ mo-fo, white devil, melanin-deprived, toxic-whiteness, supremacist, non-BIPOC, oppressor, etc.

Because they are focused on the involuntary part. They still believe they should have access to a woman’s parts, while denying the same woman control over those same parts. They want to complain that they don’t have access to those parts and feel all the sads, but you can’t point it out because they have the sads over it and if only women weren’t on intelligent, sentient, and independent beings, they could just have it all!

They want to be part of the He Man Woman Haters club when it means they get to control
Women’s bodies, but they don’t want the women to know that they’re wishing women didn’t control their bodies at all.

This exactly. They have a lot of hatred toward women because women do not find them attractive or pleasant to be around. The Isla vista shooting spree by Elliot Rodger is a great example of what can happen when these incels go off the deep end.

The incel category has grown beyond men who aren't having sex. It's now embraced by men who aren't having sex with the right kind of woman. They have some term for it, but basically if they're getting laid by the wifey and she doesn't look like an 18 year old Gisele, that sex doesn't count. They're entitled to more. They're not actually celibate, but they think they may as well be because even if they're 3s they feel entitled to 9s and any sex with below a 9 is worthless. So basically they're gross misogynist who think the incel label is a little more pitiable.

I feel like a lot of these guys would also describe themselves as “nice guys”. But really, they are just entitled AHs who think being “nice” equals getting sex. When they find out that most (all?) women want slightly more, it’s all of a sudden the fault of all women everywhere. They aren’t nice, they just mistakenly think being nice entitles them to someone else’s body. And then they get not so nice.

It’s said as an insult. So, it’s taken as an insult.

Exactly none of these things are white male specific slurs.

Y'all are fragile af.

If these men truly believe in the 80/20 rule, and subscribe to the “Manosphere”, how is it insulting to them to be described as an incel, a word created by the movement itself. Isn’t that exactly what they are being indoctrinated to believe? That because of women—not because of themselves—they aren’t having sex? What is insulting about being called a term your own cult coined?

Explain it to me like I’m 5, please.

That Netflix series is absolute garbage.

That one's pretty cool sounding actually.

The term "incel" has evolved to the point that it means "man that I disagree with" in most instances where I see it used.

Mostly women use it as a term to cut a man down to size even when it is not applicable.

Like most of these terms, it is becoming diluted to the point of meaninglessness.

Btw, a woman actually coined the term.

Because you are literally telling them they are incapable of getting laid.

An “incel” literally translates to “involuntarily celibate.”

The wedge is they display characteristics that are unattractive to women — laziness, toxic masculinity, etc. But instead of improving themselves they have turned to misogyny, decided they are entitled to sex, get bitter, and blame women instead of themselves.

That’s it in a nutshell.
