Is Rachel Carson dangerous?

Anonymous
Not in our experience. I have a 12th grader and a 9th grader who both went through Rachel Carson.
Both of my kids were in AAP classes.
When the 9th grader started 7th grade, he actually came home from school and said — wow, these teachers are like real professionals!
Yeah he was unimpressed with elementary school.

I don’t let DC stay after 2:15pm ( unless teacher want them to stay for school events, then I pick her up right after). I don’t let her ride the late school bus just to be safe.

Just to be safe from what?

Same! Our elementary school sucked in comparison to our experience at Carson. At Carson we finally had teachers who knew their subject and were professional!

Sad your kid is missing out on the amazing clubs and socialization of MS.

I have literally never once in my time as student teacher and parent in fcps of Rachel Carson ms as an unsafe place

Honestly not trying to hit wrong but isn’t it like super white bread vanilla about what you’d expect school for fcps

No, it's really not.

Seems like when the hundreds of Franklin AAP kids go back there, as they should, Carson will be a fairly typical FCPS middle school. It coasts on the reputation of the AAP kids.

DC doesn’t have time, usually there’re lots of school assignments and exams to study for. She sleeps 6-7 hours daily during school days.

LOL you don’t want kids whose base school is Franklin at their base school? What are you worried about?

The emails regarding language have been a shame. I am not surprised because I know that it was an issue at Halloween with some kids. Several were saying that another kid had given them permission to use the N word. DS has not heard that language but a few other kids have. I have no idea what has been said to the kids parents or if they are the kids that the emails reference.

Racist language has been going on for years at middle schools. It is absolutely not unique to Carson.

NP here but we would be thrilled to get rid of the Franklin Kids at Carson. There's a lot of attitude and bullying from the AAP kids and it would be great if they (especially the ones from Navy) went back to their base school.
