| Lots of posts about bus threats, bathroom vandalism/sex/vaping. Is this a dangerous middle school? |
|
My 7th grader has not said anything about it if it is. I have not asked him but he has never mentioned not being aboe to use the bathroom or feeling unsafe. He is very much enjoying MS.
I am sure that there are some poor behaviors because it is a building filled with tweens and teens, a good number of which will make bad decisions because they are tweens and teens with developing brains and starting puberty. But we have not heard of anything from our kid or his friends or his friends older siblings when they were there. |
| Ditto - our 8th grader hasn’t mentioned anything either |
| Pretty much every MS deals with vandalism/sex/vaping in the bathrooms. Nothing unusual there. |

Read this:
https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1261050.page It happened at Rachel Carson. |
| Yes, please stay away /s |
| Carson is a wonderful bubble compared to most other FCPS middle schools and compared to high schools. We had an amazing experience there. Most people say they hated middle school - my child actually enjoyed their time in middle school because of Carson. |
Are you the OP? I read that thread but no one said it was Rachel Carson. I was more concerned about the bus thing that someone mentioned happened at Rachel Carson. |
And if you are the OP and clearly already have an opinion, why did you phrase your initial post as a question? |
| No. We have had a lovely experience through several kids there but principal seems new and I think the kids can taste it. |
| OP has some beef with Carson. Take it up with admin, OP. |
| DC 7th grader hasn’t mentioned anything. I asked an 8th grader’s mom and she didn’t mention anything neither. I don’t let DC stay after 2:15pm ( unless teacher want them to stay for school events, then I pick her up right after). I don’t let her ride the late school bus just to be safe. |
I am the OP of this thread. I was asking if the person that linked the bathroom thread was the OP of THAT thread. |
My child in 6th grade, he will be at Carson next year. |
