The Cost of DEI in FCPS

Anonymous
They aren’t going to decline $50 million in federal funding just to keep some DEI going, let’s be real.

FCPS can just decline their federal funding then. $50M is not worth the oversight.

Umm, you know that all they do is complain about not having enough money, right?

They have enough money to have a $64M DEI office. $50M would not be missed. If it got them out of the administrative requirements of IDEA (would still provide special education obviously!) than it could be total savings.

The OP mentioned $6.4 million. The article notes a cost of $5.76 million. Where are you seeing $64?

This whole website is useless. Every single post is just people insulting each other and disputing things.

FCPS wastes lots of money and then gets its ridiculous shills like VH to argue we have to change boundaries to save money. Pathetic bunch of grifters.

Would love to see this happen as an act of civil disobedience.

FCPS is wealthy enough to afford not having to take money from Trump’s administration and enact their corrupt priorities.

DEI is a top priority for FCPS. $50 million is a rounding error for them.

And yet, here you are.

How did this go from $6.4 million to $64 million? Are people even reading before they respond? This place has really gone downhill.

Yup. It’s just a constant stream of RWNJ propaganda these days. Worthless.

Press Release by USDOE. No mention of local education agencies. Not much impact on FCPS. While the Department of Education is pulling back on their DEI initiatives, FCPS has always tailored its programs to meet local needs and values, not just follow federal mandates. Our district has strong commitments to equity, diversity in hiring, and inclusive curricula, and those priorities will not change. FCPS will continue to implement its DEI programs in a way that aligns with the community’s goals, regardless of federal shifts.

No.. there's a difference between having good faith conversations and people spewing propaganda. Or logical fallacies like your false dichotomy here

+1 and a difference between a good faith conversation and spewing insults and misinformation.

Strange that the FCPS have a staff 150% larger than the county government’s DEI office. The county government has a much wider jurisdiction and they have to cover housing, employment, disability programs, etc etc.

Maybe this is a place where the BOS could easily push for some streamlining during budget discussions.

This is wild to me.

The schools need more DEI than housing and employment?
