What was Trump’s plan for affordable education and student loans when he was in office? (ANd if I recall correctly, Trump University was a sham and had to pay $25 million, no?) |

My newly 18 year old son is looking forward to voting for Harris. Trump horrifies him - for one thing Trump today told a crowd he didn’t mind if someone shot the journalists covering the event, and DH/his dad is a journalist.
A candidate who eggs on your father’s murder isn’t likely to win a boy’s heart. And he thought the grab ‘em by the pu$$y was mind boggling. “How, Mom? How could anyone think that wasn’t totally disqualifying?” |
Wow. Biden and the Dems have done a ton to help higher education costs and relieve student debt, but they cannot "dictate" the cost of college. Crime is generally not up in cities (it is in DC) and per capita, crime is higher in red states than blue states. Inflation was a result of COVID and is back to where it was before COVID. Again, a president cannot dictate the cost of good and services. For all of these issues, what are Trump's plans? How is he going to reduce costs or the price of education? I am woe'd for the lack of education and critical thinking if this is how students these days are "doing their research" |
Wrong Any Gen z voting for Trump was not educated period There are very few of these idiots |
What socialism? Sounds like "teen son" has been indoctrinated and has no idea what capitalism, socialism, marxism or communism are. |
| No |
Observation— the OP asked for our experiences. There’s only a couple of people in people in our circles who are facing this, and it’s boys who would have been fine in the 70’s-80’s because there was less competition (globally and domestically) but now are looking at achieving less than their fathers and deeply resenting it. The Harvard-bound neighbor is out canvassing for Harris this weekend. |
If the Biden government thought they could eliminate student debt, then the possibility of dictating the cost of college should also be possible. It has been litigated on shaky terms, but why does an out-of-state student cost more to educate than in-state? When that out-of-state debt is then financed, it creates problems with repayment and then it must be reduced or eliminated through government mandate. Lower the cost of eduation by lowering the cost of out-of-state tuition or by raising the % of in-state students. Not a be all end all. btw - crime is up. crime is also up in cities in red states where the population is mostly blue. btw - if inflation is up bc of covid then most things trump need to be forgiven because of covid. I'm afraid your critical thinking is also lacking. Joy |

No, my son doesn't have a negative IQ. Our friends and relatives run the gamut from religious conservative to communist. We are ALL united in our loathing of Trump.

| Mine are leaning right. I think it's crime. They got mugged while walking in Georgetown. And that obviously made a huge impression. |
He woefully mismanaged COVID 1) he closed the forward State Department office in Wuhan charged with monitoriing exactly what happened. 2) he tossed the Bush/Obama Pandemic Playbook out the window thinking he "knew better" 3) he fronted stock market trades 4) he gave Putin detection machines that our hospitals could have used 5) He "shut everything down" but not for long enough to isolate the virus, and then 6) succumbed to pressure to "open things up" by Easter, so it was the worst of both worlds in terms of both harming the economy and then not mitigating and spread 7) he wouldn't repeat admonitions to mask up, distance etc 8) he suggested quack medicines were effective when they weren't Really, other than "operation warp speed" which he hasn't mentioned once this campaign, everything he did was wrong, so yes, he deserves every bit of blame that he has received. |
Because a president is responsible for the actions of some two-bit criminals? |
Bringing up masks and distancing and not recognizing the incompentence of the legacy NIH advisers immediately disqualifies you. |
Trump mugged the whole darn country. Worst president ever and my sons will not support him. |
I wasn’t going to respond, but since nobody else is answering the op’s actual real question, I will answer too. My teen son is voting Trump on Tuesday. We are also voting Trump. I’m conservative and dh is more moderate, but still voting Trump. My son saw the changes in the economy and how horrible the country is being run under Biden/Harris and he is old enough to remember how good things were when Trump was president, so that is why he is voting for Trump. He is worried about the future of our country if Harris is elected. He is 18 and in his first year of college. |
