Dishwasher-safe cutting boards that are not plastic?

It's fine to cut meat on a wood cutting board. Some people keep separate meat and vegetable cutting boards but we've never bothered. Wash with warm sudsy water. Done. Easy peasy.

My parents have been using the same wood cutting boards my whole life (I'm 50). They do not separate meat vs. veg. They have managed to not poison anyone in the past half century, so I'm thinking basic hand washing of wood cutting boards is just fine.

I recently ordered a rubber cutting board from amazon, but it hasn’t arrived yet. I can report back after its initial trial.

I also considered this one: https://mtckitchen.com/products/hasegawa-frk-wood-core-soft-rubber-cutting-board-17-3-x-11-4-x-0-8-ht?variant=40268390662234

My reddit research tells me that restaurants use rubber Sani-Tuff boards, but they’re $$$!

Why can't you use wood? I cook 2x a day and we only use wood.

Not OP, but I am lazy and don’t like to hand wash huge wood cutting boards. They don’t fit well in the dishwasher and they warp/crack after dozens of washes…

Because of this post and my googling, the Algorithm now sends me videos of Stanley Tucci scraping his cutting board, which I watch with delight.

Both the rubber and titanium boards want to be hand washed.
The use of wooden cutting boards to chop raw meat and veg is why I avoid potlucks. E.coli and salmonella are not my friends.

Wood is naturally antibacterial. Find another reason to avoid pot lucks. Allergies? Or just anxiety?

Both of these have performed well for me.

This is what we do. I like 2 sided ones so I can flip them over and have another surface to use up. Once they look worn, I just replace.

Have used these for many years!

These: https://epicureanusa.com/collections/cutting-boards Available in local stores as well as online.

Made of a paper composite. I've had several for years and they hold up perfectly through dishwasher and all. I also love their utensils. I use their spoons in place of wooden spoons.

+1 This has been proven over and over about wood cutting boards. There's less risk than with plastic. If you're going to take a stand about something, at least research it first.

wood cutting boards can't go in the dishwasher? what happens?

Is it that hard to hand wash a board? It’s a rinse and a wipe after chopping vegetables.

Wood.

You are already hand washing your cutting board between ingredients. Or are you cross-contaminating? It's one additional hand wash. Hand wash your wooden cutting board once more. Problem solved.

I chop veggies, then meat. I don’t wash in between, because the food is all going to be cooked together anyway, so it’s cross contaminated anyway.
