Dishwasher-safe cutting boards that are not plastic?

Anonymous
Does this even exist? I cook too much to do wood or bamboo. Plastics give you microplastics. I need some new ones and cannot find anything suitable.

No personal experience with this model but tempered glass that's dishwasher safe should work.

My mom had a glass cutting board in the 1970s that lasted at least until 1994. I remember seeing it at a specific house so I know it lasted 20 years at minimum. She may have it still.

Rubber non-slip feet will not last through repeated dishwashing. Eventually the glue will let go.

Glass will dull your knives.

Most cutting boards are polypropylene which is pretty inert.

Composite = wood + plastic

Following! I’ve also been looking for something that can go in the dishwasher but not warp and I’m not sure it exists. Handwashing cutting boards is a lot of work (and is it even recommended for raw meat?)

Honestly, I just buy the plastic ones from Amazon and replace them every 2-3 years. I noticed the ones from Ikea warp pretty badly in the dishwasher but I bought some thicker ones on Amazon and they have never warped, even after going through the dishwasher frequently.
Both of these have performed well for me.

Bamboo, wood. Most cutting boards are polyethylene which is ok as long as it’s washed in cold water (by hand)
I hear you, I cook a lot from scratch and I have 6 cutting boards that I use in rotation. I have them hanging on hooks since they never dry out fully before I use them again!
I do not eat meat, that would be a nightmare to keep a cutting board clean. Wood is too permeable. I guess you could use polyethylene and wash then do a rinse or dip in diluted bleach?

Do not use glass cutting boards. It ruins knives.

Yes! Epicurean. They are available at Hill’s Kitchen, on Cap Hill or online. Variety of sizes. Hill’s Kitchen has a selection of them in the shape of each state!

It's fine to cut meat on a wood cutting board. Some people keep separate meat and vegetable cutting boards but we've never bothered. Wash with warm sudsy water. Done. Easy peasy.

I also like Epicurean.

Out of curiosity, I went looking for an alternative and learned there are titanium cutting boards now. They're allegedly dishwasher-safe, and less likely to dull your knives than glass.

Try it and report back!

Maybe someone concerned about cuttimg board materials is willing to sharpen or replace knives?

Someone who is serious about cooking needs to resign themselves to washing wood cutting boards or using polypropylene.
