Pretty sure there will be no ECP DC. They were probably hoping to revive it but couldn’t find coaches is my guess. The ECP DE is definitely a go as they have teams listed with practices etc. |
MVSA announced their registration closing date on Facebook saying that they need to prepare their tryouts based on how many players register. If you miss the registration window, you can't make it. |
Any info on openings (or not) for the following club teams for the 16s to 18s age group:
Vienna Elite (and the related offshoot -- DMV Elite) Loudon Elite VAVA (Virginia Volleyball Academy) MD Juniors VA Juniors Blue Ridge St James |
Unless some updates have been posted since I started that spreadsheet, it seems that VAJRS is not planning on having any teams in the 15s-to-18s range attend CHRVA Bid Regionals. The 16s and 17s might be going to Indianapolis instead. It seems like it would be easier to complete for a bid (even if we're "only" talking National/American/Freedom divisions) within the region than trying to get something at a qualifier. What's the reasoning here?
Speaking of qualifiers, the posted schedules had two Paramount teams going to five qualifiers. Seems like a lot ... especially if one of those weekends is in Reno. Metro18s are also going to 5 qualifiers. |
ok went to find your spreadsheet and it is awesome! Linking here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1F8tT6inFdH21GZpUQ0uiRNTu6e8zfFmDoc6ep-Dj9hk/edit?usp=sharing You are now among the canon saints of CHRVA volleyball parents for putting that delish product together -- thank you!! |
Ha! Thanks. I had started a thread about the spreadsheet (https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1230731.page ... now on Page 2), but I figured it must not have garnered much interest.
Anyway, good luck to everyone trying out this weekend and next. And my apologies to all the bank accounts that are about to take a hit! LOL! |
Interesting. I hadn't noticed VAJRs wasn't among the registered teams for bid regionals. I agree getting a bid at CHRVA regionals is way easer that expecting to get one at a qualifier, even in lower divisions. I don't see them as registered for 16s-18s Mideast Qualifier either. |
False alarm on VAJRS ... maybe. (Or someone quickly updated their website)
Per https://www.vajuniors.com/page/show/1453430-club-information: There's now another Black and Blue scrimmage for the 15s - 17s on March 16, with all teams slated for Bid Regionals the following weekend. It also appears that the 16s and 17s are going to Show Me instead of MEQ. I'm pretty certain that wasn't what was posted earlier in October. Oh well. I updated the spreadsheet. ... Are National Harbor and Capital Hill "enough" to satisfy the regional tournament requirement for Bid Regionals. I only see one other local event for the 15s (in March, no less) and one for the 18s. My kid has been on the other end of not having enough local events played to enter Bid Regionals. |
RE -- National Harbor and Cap Classic satisfying the regional requirement to be eligible for CHRVA regionals -- Cap Classic definitely does; but not sure about National Harbor. RE -- this question of what's happening with VA Juniors -- intriguing!! Very curious to hear from anyone who has been going to their clinics this Fall. Anyone hearing or seeing anything that gives the sense that something is awry? |
What about mojo? Are they back in business after the ECP merge? |
oh good heavens let's not create drama where there most likely is none. If you genuinely are curious, then reach out to the club and ask or go to a clinic and find out for yourself. While regionals is an easier path to a bid, it's not the only path. And, depending on dates and other tournaments can be just a bad date for the club. Also, it's important to note that while USAV is more "presitgious" b/c you have to qualify (but with trickle downs its kind of a joke), AAU Nationals are very strong as well. More college coaches go to AAU (418) vs USAV (388). |
I'm equally puzzled. We're new to club volleyball and competing with returning rosters. Have no clue if going to tryouts is even worth it (just me thinking out loud, not my daughter, she is game and reasonably optimistic). I only know of one club with an open position (based on what the coach told me, off record, not one of the above), but even that isn't guaranteed of course. |
You should try out for mid- and low-tier clubs. They claim that their rosters are coming back, but that is unlikely in many cases. Their good players tend to try out for better clubs and they may return if they have no other option. Trying out for a top club is a waste of time and money for a beginner player. That's where they have returning rosters, plus the better players who played for mid- and low-tier clubs during the previous season. |
Does anyone know how much movement there is in the 14s, 15s, and 16s for MEVC? We are new to club too and this is one we are adding to the tryout list based on the advice of this forum calling it a mid-level club. |
Don’t sleep on Go Volley. His teams will be in open this year. Also best training hands down. Where do u think all the top players go for privates. He coaches all his National teams and here at fees. |
