Disney this long weekend

Many people who are evacuating may need to use those hotel rooms. Cancel. I know my relative had a hard time finding a room last time they had to evacuate.

You just sound jealous. (Not OP.)

Who would be jealous of a Disney trip? That kind of trip is my (and probably many others) idea of hell!

I'm on hold with Universal canceling our trip right now. There's no point in going. I'm bummed becuase this is our third vacation we've cancelled this year, but, at the same time, I'm glad to open up a hotel room for someone that needs it.

The airlines will likely allow you to cancel with no penalty as will the hotels. Give the people on the ground and first responders the space they need.

Disney is waiving all the cancellation fees and also has closed for new bookings for the rest of the weeks. But I might wait and make a last minute decision. If the storm makes a last minute turn it might be the best disney trip ever because everyone will have cancelled. But I would tell the kids canceling now so that they aren’t too upset at last minute.

I don’t think I’d be ballsy enough to do it, but you’re probably right. Disney never stays closed for long. But the state of emergency in Orlando would give me pause …

Omg- just cancel. I live in Orlando, and I am leaving to avoid the storm. The storm and the aftermath are not fun, not even at Disney.

When this was first posted, Milton was not yet a major storm.

🚨 On October 7, the Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Orlando Executive Airport (ORL) announced that they will cease commercial passenger and private operations on Wednesday morning, October 9 in advance of Hurricane Milton.

Disney put out a statement today that they expect their campground and the "treehouses" at Saratoga Springs to stay closed until Sunday. I don't know if OP is staying at either of those, but it just gives some perspective on how Disney is anticipating and planning.

Calm down. They just asked a question.

We’re supposed to be flying in Thursday night. We just booked a refundable Friday morning flight, as we expect the Thursday night flight will be cancelled.

The weather looks completely clear in Orlando after Thursday afternoon.

We’re going Friday night until Monday. As of now, it seems we’ll be fine on the parks Saturday and maybe even benefit from reduced crowd. But Disney and airlines being generous so will reassess Thursday night or Friday morning

The weather is the least of your problems. Bring your tent and generator

If you aren’t envious of OP’s trip, there is no reason you’d think she is “spoiled” for wanting to take it. Your hegthened emotions on this betray your true feelings.
