He used to train kids in Maryland & Virginia. He is the best there is in this area. |
We go twice a week, max. Once a week depending on schedule. It is fine. Any is better than none. You have to be realistic about what time and money you want to invest. |
You won’t see much improvement with once or twice a week. Some but not much. If you don’t put the time and effort in, don’t blame your trainer if you don’t see major results. |
Why would I blame the trainer? People need to be realistic about how much free time they have in addition to their regular sports practices. Everyone has to make trade-offs. My kid isn’t going to the Olympics. That’s ok, but we still want to support injury prevention while they do the sport they enjoy. They feel the difference and are satisfied with 1-2 days a week. YMMV |
I am a performance coach and a PhD student that is finishing my dissertation. I will recommend that you communicate with your coach or trainer. Understand how much sport practice you child will participate in weekly and games. I would also recommend that in-season they incorporate performance training 1-2x a week to continue to progress. When the times come and they have less on their schedule I would recommend going at least 2-3x a week. For athlete between 10-18 it is crucial to participate so much research on how effective and important resistance training, change of direction training and plyometrics is for their performance. However it is important to make sure their schedules are overwhelming.
