Youth performance training programs

I’m looking for a youth performance training program near Tysons. Can you recommend a place/trainer? What sports? Price rates?

D1 is Reston.

Perfect performance in Tysons. They have a few options, but we do an unlimited package usually.

Capstone in Falls Church, Merrifield, Baileys Crossroads or D1 but that's further out.

I'm curious: Are you seeing results if your kids are consistently doing performance training (say 2-4x per week)?

Our daughter does it at a place in MD so not relevant to the main questions but I can confirm yes. Much less injury prone, much more strength, stamina, and improved agility.

Depends on what kind of results you’re looking for. Of course training will make a difference. However, depending on how naturally coordinated and athletically gifted (including physical traits that are genetically endowed), some kids will have more significant improvements than others.

If you have a kid with slow twitch muscles, you’re not going to turn them into a superstar sprinter.

If you have a kid who is uncoordinated, you could help them improve their coordination but they probably will never be a D1 recruit.

Help your kid be their best but don’t assume that practice and sweat equity means anything is possible, and don’t tell them that either. It’s a lie.

Specifically, injury prevention (avoiding growth plate issues for a teen) and building fast twitch fibers. DC is currently in the 50% in speed on a good team, coordinated, strong, and has good endurance, but lacks quick starts that DC needs to keep progressing and push into the top quartile on the team. I wonder if it's worth the investment versus working out at home on Peloton Tread and Peloton Strength or just YouTube follow-along workouts plus sprinting on the track.

Try it out for about 6-8 weeks. If it’s going to make a difference for your child, you’ll see improvement in that time.

^^^ You want to do a minimum of 3x a week ( with rest days in between). 2 x a week is not often enough.

3x per week on top of regular team training?

Team training does not target specific skills and the repetitive muscle learning and growth required to improve performance. 3 x a week on top of regular team training, at least initially. Best if you can do the training on days where they don’t have team training or games.

Talk to your trainer about how to schedule to maximize improvement.

100% can see it on the field, and my kid can feel it as well, and plays much more confidently. The trainers will also re-test his training numbers every month so we know he has gotten better.

NP and this is where I feel it’s insanity. I went out with a group of friends recently and our kids are all in different sports. Mine was the only one not going to one of these programs. They are the latest craze, can be very expensive and so very time consuming. I understand the benefits but can’t justify the time and money, mostly the time, on top of everything else.
