It's not real. Have a sip of water, maybe an advil pm and go back to sleep. |
I think you need to put down the phone and go ear a cracker. You're delirious. |
I think as long as the hunger doesn't keep you awake, you are 100% fine to ignore it. I drink water, get ready for bed, etc. and if I still feel hunger (in the form of growling) I will eat a small handful of almonds or have a glass of soy milk. If I don't do that, I can't sleep and will lost sleep which is obviously not good! |
What is ghrelin? Ghrelin is a hormone produced by your stomach. Often known as the “hunger hormone,” ghrelin has numerous functions in addition to telling your brain you’re hungry. https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/body/22804-ghrelin |
I don’t understand how the average American is getting “hunger pains” while they’re in bed. I’m almost 40 and while I’ve had my stomach growl from hunger I don’t think I’ve ever had a “hunger pain.” |
I wouldn’t say “real” is actually something to ever worry about for hunger. There is no danger at all to feeling hunger and not acting on it. Hunger is not something like a full bladder that you have to respond to in order to remain healthy. If you want to lose weight you have to learn to ignore hunger once you’ve eaten an appropriate amount. |
When my first was a newborn I’d literally forget to eat all day. Then I’d be in bed trying to fall asleep, exhausted, and I couldn’t because I was having stabbing pains in my stomach. I’d get up, eat half a sandwich, and then go pass out. It was hunger pain. |
In my 12 step overeater group I noticed a lot of us were afraid of hunger, of "going hungry" etc. They could not stand the feeling of an empty stomach.
Maybe others are like that too. For whatever reasons. |
If I didn’t eat enough during the day I absolutely will wake up in the middle of the night hungry. Doesn’t happen often but when it does I just go downstairs and eat something small and go back to sleep. But it’s definitely sign I didn’t eat enough that day because otherwise I will sleep through the night. |
