Is total body transformation possible at 52 with the help of a trainer?

Lift heavy. Kettlebells work for me. Up the protein and try not to overeat after workouts.

Has anyone over 50 lost weight without medication? Asking for a friend!

I lost 45 pounds at 48/49 without medication, counting calories, tracking food, hiring a trainer, lifting heavy, skipping meals, etc. I cut sugar and walked a lot. It took 7 months or so and has stayed off for 3 years. I started at 5'4 and 160 and had been living on junk food with little/no exercise for most of my 40s, so it was easy to figure out what I needed to change.

I have decent metabolism and probably should have been 200 pounds based on how I was eating, so I had that going for me.

Yes. I did it by changing my diet. Limiting unprocessed foods, doubling my vegetable intake, halving my carb intake. Limiting meat and increasing beans by a lot. Basically, I started eating so much fiber that it was hard to fit in junk food. The best thing about it is that I never count calories. I just eat as much fruit and veg as I want, so long as it is fresh. For me it's really hard to eat too much because again, the fiber.

I have started with a trainer, doing Noom, walking 10K/day and have lost 65# in 9 months. I still have 30 more to do but it is working and I feel great!!! I am mid-50s and post-menopausal.

Yes. I lost 45 pounds at age 59-60 by stopping compulsive sneak eating. I walked but not more than before although it was certainly more pleasant.

Yes, you can do this. 54 year old here who is down 10lbs from 173 to 162 in 9 weeks after hiring a trainer (strength training) and picking running back up, and eating light and clean. Like the other PP I eat whatever quantities of fresh fruit/veggies I want (for example I typically have one whole a avacado a day), have a small portion of protein (like 4-5 shrimp a meal or 1/3 can beans) with lunch and dinner, and then really focus on restricting my carbs - for example, I limit rice to like 1/4 or 1/3 of a cup (dry) - really, just enough to let me know I’ve eaten some rice. I used to use 1/2 cup of dry rice, for comparison. Same thing with pasta - I used to use 1 cup dry pasta, now I’m using 3/4 cup. It’s enough to fill me up and fuel my runs, and the weight is steadily coming off. By the time I’m getting hungry again, it’s time for the next meal.

Any more info to share? Would love to hear your story.

I started weight training, crossfit and yoga also. Im going to try pilates too. Mainly though it was eating better - just paying attention, so i lost about a pound a week. I was quite overweight at the time but didnt care or pay attention. It all changed a year and a half ago when i met the most handsome and amusing man who is 20 years younger.

Did i get the guy? Yes. Yes i did haha!

Never had motivation before. Never saw the inside of a gym before or cared about calories...

How much did you lose? Congrats on the fitness and the guy!

Congratulations!
Have you hit a weight loss plateau at all? If so, how did you re-boot it?
I lost 22# two years ago, had another 25# to lose (ideally), when the losing just stopped. I eventually gained 6# back within the last 9 months or so and now have 25-30# to lose. Other than the more recent 6# over the last several months, I remained steady with the original weight loss. I've course-corrected my eating and resumed walking again; but the needle just won't budge.
