Why do you keep posting this? This thread is about 2024 MISA scores which are part of the final grade. Not about 2023 MCAP which took a year to grade and count for nothing.

Regardless of year your kid took the tests, it did not take a year to grade. It was graded and state had them in summer, then MCPS had them in fall, but parents only received the reports in Spring or have yet to receive them. It "counts" for "something" if parents are suposed to contact their kid's teachers or school based on their kid's performance on the tests, but parents don't know if they should be contacting their kid's teachers or school because parents have yet to receive the reports or did so only recently. If they are going to test kids, they should put out scores ASAP, not a year later.

My kid was absent and still hasn't taken that test.

No. Last day for the L-MISA (HS) is May 31. Kids are still doing makeups.

So ten business days after 5/31 means we don’t get the grades until the last day of school? That’s shit-tastic.

Isn’t that when they’d get a final exam grade for a regular final (if MCPS had those?)

AI and human grading source - click on slides
https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/curriculum/end-of-course-exams-information/

it says 9 business days for grading and uploaded to teacher gradebook

DC took it way more than 9 business days ago. does that mean the teacher should have the grades

Way to miss the point. Again this thread is about MISA which is part of the final grade starting this year. Go debate the issues with last year else where.

Probably designed to come out when there's zero time to complain/escalate/appeal. MCPS doesn't want to hear from parents.

They had better grade this on a curve.

I really don't see the point of requiring this without doing a test run first. they should have done a test run the first year and then fine tuned it

They have done a “test run” for two years to hand grade, set the break points, and train AI. For those years kids met graduation requirements simply by taking the test. They have also allowed the individual districts the opportunity to internally combine scores with course grades and provide feedback to the state. I don’t know exact details about what MCPS figured out, but I do know that science teachers who participated in training about this got information about their previous year’s students scores and that the overall combining of grades ended up pretty generous. We will know soon enough.

Have they said what score corresponds with what? Is a 4 on the MISA an A, 3 a B, 2 a C, and 1 a D?

I can't imagine, since less than 10% score a 4 historically.
