At NYC privates, the top 10% rarely apply to Uchicago. It's usually those in the middle who apply ED.

Correct. I gave the 78% stat, and to be exact it was 7 out of 9 kids accepted ED from 2019-2023. The tippy top of the class is going for HYPMS and Duke in the early round.

Same for our private, HYPSM and Duke are where the best are aiming in early round, but also Penn and Columbia

Shouldn't you go back to trolling the Northeastern thread? What type of person just hates on a school. It is a school for crikes sake. Harboring such animosity cannot be healthy.

that means percent who submitted rank. half. I'm another parent with a kid at a nyc private and our school doesnt' rank. agree that U Chicago applicants are the ones who are one step down from NYPSM and Duke. (nothing wrong with it, my second kid will be in this bunch and U Chicago would be great for him)

U Chicago's SAT (For the half that submitted)
1510 25%
1560 75%

Those aren't the top 10% of sat test takers at our school either.

Most private schools do not rank and many public schools also do not rank. So thr 90% number is for those students whose schools does calculate a rank (which could be less than 50% of schools).

Not right on topic, but might be of interest to some: U Chicago's overlap schools are: Columbia, Harvard, Yale, Stanford, U Penn, Northwestern, Princeton, and Cornell.

But could be more…

There is a self selected set of kids who apply (high stats, intense) so I would consider that she thinking about the ED rates.

So how do we know this is exclusively for RD and excludes ED? What is the source?

U Chicago should just get rid of RD

It’s way less. Look at any CDS of any selective school sharing that info. Not really debatable.
