Univ of Chicago ED Acceptance Rate

The RD acceptance rate is notoriously low, but they don't publish the ED acceptance rate which makes me question how high it may be. Anyone know? Do you think it's in the teens or perhaps as high as 30-40% like at some other top schools?

I think you may be right. The Harvard-Westlake unhooked data shows kids with medium high GPAs (3.9 to 4.3) getting into Chicago at a 30-40% rate. Kids with higher GPAs (4.3+) got in at a much lower rate, presumably because they are less likely to apply ED. Kids with lower GPAs did not get in.

It's so bogus when schools refuse to include data like this in the Common Data Set.

This year’s EA and ED1 combined acceptance rate was 5%.

The ED acceptance rate for our NJ public school over the past five years is 33 percent, compared to 2 percent for RD.

ED admit rate at our small NYC private is 78% according to Naviance. Single digits for RD.

Well, we all know the EA rate is close to zero, so…

On the NYC privates, that number seems high. I know the privates. ED at our private (which I think is the highest) was nowhere near 78% 2 years ago. I do agree there is a really high GPA cutoff; lower, no admission. They really do mean it when they say need to be in top 10%.

At NYC privates, the top 10% rarely apply to Uchicago. It's usually those in the middle who apply ED.

Correct. I gave the 78% stat, and to be exact it was 7 out of 9 kids accepted ED from 2019-2023. The tippy top of the class is going for HYPMS and Duke in the early round.

Same is true at the boarding schools.
