Possible early dismissal Tuesday?

Didn’t a school bus float away a few years ago in a flood. It happens. Better safe than sorry.

From MCPS: "When schools are closing early, the announcement is made by 11:00 a.m.

Schools close 2.5 hours early, and all operations affecting dismissal of students, including bus transportation, will be activated 2.5 hours earlier than the regular school closing time."

Is there no one he could get a ride from?

I don't think walking home at 2:30 is going to be an issue. And no, freshmen don't drive and other kids can't give rides until they are 18+. I'm not worried, but of course I'd rather it be earlier.

Then make it earlier. You're the parent.

OMG you people are insane. It's rain. And some wind. Late in the day. There should NOT be an early release day to prevent your kid from getting wet while walking home.

It's not "just" rain these days. 4 inches of rain, depending on how fast it's falling, can wash out tons of roads. It wasn't much more than that that ended up flooding Canal Road a few years ago.

Wow this one surprised me and makes other closures of close-in counties more likely.

Anne Arundel etc are on the bay and very differently situated re flooding etc.

You must be new here. This is MCPS. We regularly have “snow” days off when it only rains (yes, even upcountry). If other school districts are closing early tomorrow, so will we. There is no penalty - if kids have lunch, it counts as a day of school for the state.
