This is exactly it. |
| Definitely women contribute to this problem. Particularly right wing uneducated Christian women who still believe their role is mother/homemaker, supporting their man. |
The alternative is what? Equal treatment? Who doesn't want that? |
Er... |
It all goes back to the shame a PP mentioned. Being a Christian woman who loves her role as a homemaker is a shameful thing, at least according to women. |
| OP, please direct your question all the women who seek to marry a rich, powerful man. Also, see the "I feel I’m too good for most single men" thread... |
I'm a left wing and very educated but begrudgingly admit that my role as mother and homemaker has been exponentially better for my children and my husband's career. Which means better for my life but short term and long term. We could have switched roles but while I could have made what DH makes (which is a lot), he would have been mediocre at raising the kids and keeping our house running. American society is barely set up for 2 working parents, let alone 2 working parents who want to have high-achieving, well-adjusted kids and happy parents. That's why the patriarchy is alive and well. |
| Women also help to keep it alive. |
|
Because literally the ONLY thing even WORSE than having men in charge, would be having women in charge.
It should be AI. Or a lottery/randomized number generator. The Moon. But as it is, the patriarchy is the second worst option there is. |
+1 And some women don't want to lose the social status attached to their rich white man. I've seen many SAHMs who love to brag about their husband's career as if it were their own accomplishment. |
Wow, bigot much?
|
Well, we don't need women like you in charge, that's for sure. |
Yes and yes. |
Yep - see the the forum about why people, mainly women, put their kids in different activities. Or pretty much all the other forums too. The sexism is just as rife with women as it is with men. Women have internalize their lower position and proliferate it to their daughters, judge their friends and all other women who make different decisions to them. |
|
It is multi faceted.
Physical differences and evolutionary biology play a part. But largely it’s how the patriarchy has successfully brainwashed women into believing that debasing themselves to suit male sexual preferences is empowering. Men love when “feminism” preaches “sex work is work” and stripping = empowerment because it suits them to keep women in subordinate positions. |
