Correct. This is the point for apple. And the reason I won't get one. |
Verizon had a good deal sometime last year when we were looking for a phone. Cheap or free iPhone (depending on model) when adding a new line on the family plan. |
So your beliefs are more important than your kids social life. Got it. |
It is actually a very simple fix but it sounds like it is beyond your abilities. |
If it’s against the law, it shouldn’t take a simple fix. It just should work. |
I have an Android and am on plenty of group texts. I don't think that explains why your DD is being left out (if that is what is happening). |
Yes I have beliefs and values and don't give in for every tech gadget or need to have item. Like my niece who got AF 1s and was shuffling around because she can't "crease" then. Jfc. I have an android and communicate just fine with apple users. I'm not paying hundreds of dollars for a phone. I'm not contracting with Verizon or any other company that uses Apple to get users, we use a cheaper plan. When my child is adult they can buy their own phone and plan. In the meantime, we use value phones and a budget cell phone service because they work and why pay more? |
I don’t understand why people are saying iPhones can’t text with androids. I have a friend with an android who’s included in our group chats and it works fine. Yes, it’s annoying because it makes extra lines of tests for reactions, but no biggie. |
I have an iPhone and I hear people say this all the time. I’m also on multiple group chats with a combo of iPhone/android users. I guess “liking” a text isn’t the same. But otherwise, I really don’t get what it is that makes it awful to text android users. You’re not the only one to say this so just trying to understand. Maybe I’m too basic of a texter. |
The fact that you are so aggressive and antagonistic over a literal cell phone brand is bizarre. |
We're an Android family. DD has complained that it's a problem for sharing photos but not for text groups. I guess her responses show up differently but if a kid is bothered by that they need to get over it. We did tell DD she was welcome to buy her own iPhone if it was that much of an issue but she didn't think it was annoying enough to spend her own money. I've never had an issue texting mixed Android/Apple groups. |
Yeah, I don’t get this either. I’m on several group chats with non-iPhone users, and we all share photos and emojis and stuff just fine. Maybe it’s just that OP’s kid has a particularly crappy Android phone? |
My mother and grandmother have decent enough Androids and I have to email them both videos of the kids. |
This should be fixed in 2024. When an Apple phone sends a text to an Android phone, Apple uses old technology (SMS, MMS) which means that things are limited. Apple is changing to RCS (Rich Communication Services) to align with everyone else. |
Phew, finally! So the android people can stop walking around with a chip on their shoulder. |
