DNC plans should Biden (or other D candidate) lose in 2024?

A lot of people would be ok with some of the same policies but it feels irresponsible to reelect him. I heard someone say no one would even consider renewing his contract if he were CEO of a company and that is 100 percent true. It doesn’t mean voting for him 3 years ago was bad or wrong but things have changed.. he has changed… and for most people it feels really irresponsible to vote for him again.

If Biden remains the candidate, it would be irresponsible to not vote for him, considering the alternative.

That said, his deciding to run again at 81 years old was the height of arrogance and irresponsibly.

If Biden stays in the race and becomes the nominee, which is very likely at this point, he does have a 50/50 chance of beating Trump. If Trump somehow doesn't become the GOP nominee, Biden would have slim chances against most of the other GOP potential candidates. The best Dems can hope for is Trump becoming the GOP nominee as that would give Biden the best chances at being re-elected and a Trump nomination would also provide for a relatively easy path to victory for any other Dem nominee should Biden change his mind and back out of the 2024 race.

Actually I believe the exact opposite is true. If Trump doesn’t get the Republican nomination, Biden will probably carry all 50 states because Trump will claim that the primaries were rigged by the RNC, which will pull the Republican nominee’s share of the popular vote into the 30-35% range.

If Trump doesn't become the nominee, it will be because he chose to back out of the race or was forced out of the race due to health or legal reasons and in those circumstances Trump wouldn't have a reason to declare war against the RNC. Otherwise, if he remains in the race, he will be the nominee and his chances of winning in the general election will be dependent upon Biden becoming the Dem nominee.

Ds are confident they will win and have no plan to save American democracy should Trump win. They will lay down their swords or flee (assuming anyone will accept them as asylum seekers).

The crime rate has been going down. Why would that be an issue to hurt Dems?

The GOP needs all three legs - conservatives, Evangelicals and MAGAs - to win a national election. Any "rational" conservative like Christie can't get all three. Any candidate named Trump cannot get all three and any candidate not named Trump can get all three.

The way American democracy is saved is by the Dems keeping the white house. Should Trump win, that means American democracy loses. What contingency plan is there for that? Why is it up to only the Dems to have a plan? What is the GOP plan to save democracy?

As OP suggested, you should take a raft and escape to Cuba.

Yes, Trump is the overwhelming favorite to become the GOP nominee and for Dems, this is a good thing.

There won't be a DNC if Trump wins, because we won't have elections anymore. That's the point.

We’ve been told the GOP is the one taking it away, so it would literally be up to the Ds or the non-affiliated.

If the DNC feels this way as well, other leaders in the Dem party must be working behind the scenes to figure out a way to convince Biden to back out of the race so that a nominee with better odds of beating Trump can replace him. We can't be content with 50/50 odds of beating Trump.

So we all just sit and do nothing?

The other nominee would be Kamala Harris. There’s absolutely no chance the sitting VP wouldn’t get the nomination if Biden dropped out unexpectedly.

If Biden dropped out, there would be a more organic primary process to determine the nominee and assuming Harris would seek the nomination, she would have to campaign to earn the nomination. There is no guarantee she would be nominated but of course it is a possibility.

Why do you want the democratic party to fracture at this perilous time?
