My father put an AirTag in my car to track me

Anonymous
I would probably leave. I’m a parent of adult children. One of mine has serious mental health issues that legitimately create safety issues. Still it’s by agreement that I can see his location and I pay for the phone (and everything else - he’s not capable of independence). It does not even cross my mind for the others. It’s such an invasion of privacy.

I don’t believe you could get that much information from an AirTag that isn’t yours, ergo I don’t believe this story.

Troll score: 2. Demerits for bullshit details. But that’s what liars do — they overexplain.

Have him arrested. Then maybe he will think it’s a big deal.

So you’re at you’re parents’ house now?

Leave. Just pack up your family and go. No explanation. They know. The less you say, the better.

What a huge breach of trust (though it sounds like you already didn't trust him). The gaslighting is something else. I think, since it sounds like you're done anyway, tell him that if he pulls this again, you are not visiting etc ever again.

You drove 800 miles one way??

This feels like a troll post.

Yeah…. Op drove 800 miles….
No. She didn’t.

You sure can!! I just used my brothers car and his keys have an air tag. I got an iPhone message that an unknown AirTag was following me with a map of where I had been.

I want to know how Dad got in to the trunk of the car. Did he steal the keys? I guess maybe if OP does not lock it...

Totally plausible.

Different poster: We live in DC. My parents live 800 miles away in Florida. We drive down there all the time. We’ve taken our kids there since they were babies. Sometimes we do it in two legs where we stop in Florence, SC. Other times we’ve left at 5:30am and do the long haul. We’ve done it during spring break.

OP said she arrived on Sunday. It’s plausible that they drove on Saturday and Sunday.

Just posted above about parents living in Florida.
Sure—the dad could’ve easily taken the keys and put the tag in there. We leave our keys on the table by the door because cars need to be moved. Old people get up at the crack of dawn.

My dad would never do such a thing. And I have no idea if OP is a troll or not. But my dad would have every opportunity to do so if we were visiting.

100%. I was getting madder the more I read this thread, because I kept sticking with it for some stupid reason anyway.

And the last four digits of the cell phone number of the person whose air tag it is?
