When you're on the shorter side, yes.

DP Agree. I'm 5'4 and 5 pounds means my size 4 pants start feeling snug, and 8 pounds means I'm a size 6 (which I don't have in my closet)

+2 from a 5'4" person. 5 pounds will mean some clothing that previously fit well is now snug. I carry my weight pretty evenly too.

In the same exact boat.

Whenever I gain 3-5 lbs, all of it goes into my belly and thigh area, so immediately I feel the difference in how clothes fit.

My eating has not changed. My current diet is mostly IF and low carb with indulgences like pizza once a week and dessert/cocktail on weekends. But the weight crept on this year. I have found unless I go (i) zero carbs, (ii) IF and (iii) no sugar, I cannot get back to 132. The thing is, I like to eat. I eat relatively healthy, but I like to have dessert and a cocktail or two on weekends. I am trying to come to terms with the fact that either I do no carb/no sugar to get back to 132 (which I was always trying to get below anyway) or I just enjoy my life and suck it up at being 137. Anyone relate?

Poor baby

The shorter you are, the more it matters. I'm 5'2" ... 5 pounds is notable in how my pants fit.

Eat boiled potatoes, cabbage and strawberries and popcorn.

Agree with this. Also, 137 is ok
If that means you can enjoy a cocktail and weekend indulgence that would be a fair trade.

Exactly.

I'm trying to get comfortable with a slightly higher baseline while also refusing to throw in the towel. It used to be that some quick fixes to my eating would help me drop a few pounds. I think those days are done. I'm trying to lift more and work in a little more walking even on the days I'm not working out.

49 for me is when things started changing. It’s much harder to lose the weight but that’s not to say you shouldn’t be mindful. I have been slim my entire life but when 49 hit all things changed. I think that menopause is on the horizon and my body is changing

Agree it doesn’t sound like much but it does mean a lot of new clothes if you go up one size. So better to try and lose it rather than buy a whole new wardrobe

It becomes 5 lbs per year quickly at that age…. need to counter the muscle loss.

Agree. And good for OP noticing. So many people on here complaining they gained 20,30,40+ lbs. If you notice and do something when it is 5 lbs, it is so much easier to gain back control of weight gain

Yes, she should eat what I wrote. High-volume, low-calorie foods. Look up cabbage lady thread.

I'm 5'7 and the difference between 140 and 145 is a pants size.
