F age 62. Lifting weights (heavy) is the only thing that allows me to eat what I want and maintain my weight. |
How much weight gain would it take for you to care? It’s a lot easier to lose 5 lbs (or accept it, but weigh regularly to make sure it isn’t more), than to lose 10+ |
So you were severely underweight before, and have now resigned yourself to being just barely normal weight. You inspire me. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Disagree. I'm 5'2" and don't notice 5 pounds either way. Still wear the same clothes. |
Weight lifting. |
Yoga also helps tighten the muscles and make you look better - so you don't focus so much on the scale number. Plus you're stronger and more flexible overall. |
DP. Why are you dismissing someone else's personal experience? It may not make a difference to YOU, but to those of us who carry the extra weight in our midsection, yes absolutely an extra 5 pounds would mean a different pant size. |
I was able to gather from her post that this isn't just a one week fluid retention situation. Were you not? |
OP, I can definitely relate. I am 48 and as of the past 6 months, I have had to keep track of every morsel that goes into my mouth in a way I never did previously in order to keep off 5 pounds that makes my pants not fit. This is in addition to a consistent running and lifting routine. It's annoying. |
Firstly, you're an ass. You have to make a lot of assumptions, since no where does OP state that either she regularly weighs herself nor that there was any change in how her clothes fit. |
DP 5'1" and currently around 110-112 down from 115-118 because I've been more active than usual with summer and after getting a dog. I definitely notice the difference in my clothes and in how I feel. With the colder, darker weather (starting this weekend UGH) I won't be as active so I'll go up again. Five pounds matters at my height and body frame. |
I just posted about losing weight this summer with extra activity. OP, is that an option for you: add an extra walk to your day or some other type of activity? |
NP. But it seemed obvious from her post the 5 lbs has been around for some time now.. |
I don’t see the post. Can you share the link? |
OP here: Yes, gain has been steady in 2023. And I am not sure I am "done" with the weight gain. As I mentioned, unless I really deprive myself (no carbs, no sugar), I cannot get back down to my usual weight of 132, which I was never happy about to begin with. I do daily yoga and weekend long walks - this is about all my current schedule allows. I may try to put some heavy weights in my kitchen and left when I can here and there. It's a bummer. |
