| Have any other colleges cut ED this year? |
| I'm glad to see that with getting rid of ED they are moving up the EA deadline. Hopefully that means they will give the EAc results earlier. It's ridiculous how late their "early" action decisions come out |

No |
| They say ED favors students who don’t need to wait on financial aid decisions |
YES. As a donut-hole family, we really do need to look at merit aid at different schools and weigh options carefully. I'm bummed my kid can't ED when it's a clear admissions advantage at some places. I'm happy VT is doing this! |
| Does VT give merit and/or financial aid similar to what UVA and W&M give for in-state residents? |
|
Wow, thank you for posting this-I hadn't heard!
My son visited VT (engineering) a few weeks ago and really liked it, but not enough to commit to a binding ED. He planned to apply EA, knowing that his best chance of admission was ED and applying EA meant he had a very low chance. So with ED gone, will his EA application have a better shot? |
I didn't see the date VT expects EA decisions to be announced. Anyone know? EA app deadline Nov 15. |
Seems like it would overall but who knows whether it will make a difference in an individual case. |
Even non-binding ED? |
Yeah, screw other people as long as it's better for you, right?
|
ED at VT (and every college I've looked into) is binding. The early admission process (EA) is a non-binding option for students that want to know the decision early, but don't want to commit to the school right away. VT will still have EA. |
