New police chief spent her career at the park police?

. I find her an extremely uninspiring choice based on the specific jobs she's held. The opposite of what the city needs right now, but not surprising from Bowser.

In the nearly 15 years I've lived in DC I've seen Park Police pull over more traffic violators than I have MPD. I've seen people blatantly run red lights in front of MPD and they did nothing about it.

She’s exceptionally qualified.

The city has turned all traffic enforcement over to cameras because they don’t trust the cops to do their jobs. You see the results. I was behind a couple guys on motorcycles today who didn’t stop for anything — not stop signs, not traffic lights, nothing.

Good. Maybe she's less enmeshed in cop gang culture.

The Council has made clear they do not want MPD doing traffic enforcement. It’s inequitable.

The same reason they don’t enforce illegal tags.

Wasn’t there a whole season of The Wire about how park police were the baddest cops around?

How does "equity" give someone a pass to speed, run red lights, put fake license plates on your car, and drive recklessly?

With our anti-police DC council, maybe that was really the point?! Criminals and vagrants all over the city must be celebrating.

I think she seems like a person with experience who takes no crap. Which is what we need.

the inequities aren't caused by the police

It's been more than 20 years since that show debuted. Perhaps time to Let It Go.
