Sound of Freedom - What are they up to?

The issue with the film’s protagonist is that his organization has greatly exaggerated their outreach. Ballard has also built his own net worth based on the fears of a niche audience through book deals, speaking engagements, and a couple questionable nonprofits.

I haven’t seen the film myself. If it’s presented as a fictional account, I have no problem with it. But if people are watching it and assuming it all actually happened, that’s bad.

I’m a retired HSI special agent and agree with this assessment 100%. I managed a public safety team for years and although human trafficking is an “issue,” I think it has been very much exaggerated. Tim raised something like $50mm for his company; I would love to see his books and records as to where the money went and what he took home for pay. He claims they were involved in all these worldwide investigations/operations and recoveries, yet I know it is virtually impossible for a private entity/NGO to accomplish much, if anything without the cooperation of law enforcement (who likely aren’t that welcoming). I also know that he leans MAGA so he likely exaggerates and very much the spotlight and patting himself on the back.

.

A fool and his money are soon parted.

Except for the protagonist on this film. He is laughing all the way to the bank.

A before anyone accuses me of not caring, I worked in LE for 12 years and did a few of these cases. You all a sheeps. If not, tell me what you have actually done for this issue other than “raising awareness” by trolling Internet forums.

Here’s the article, free since I subscribe. Will Sommer has been covering QAnon since its inception.

Agreed. This was a money making scheme. No one quits HSI mid-career because they feel so impassioned about a cause. When’s the last time an DEA agent quit anfter 10 years to become a drug addictikn counselor? Also, I know most of the retired HSI guys that now work for him. They’re “B list” investigators who have similar personas.

Why do folks act like this is some brave movie that finally exposes human trafficking. Law and Order SVU has been around for decades. Or the movie Taken. There are a ton of movies and shows about this subject.

I don’t think mainstream media is vilifying the film; the reviews are mostly positive. But they are giving the audience appropriate background to the film’s creation, funding, star (who is definitely a QAnon follower) and the claims that the story isn’t quite as true as presented. A lot of this (both the background story and film) are viewed as propaganda aimed to gain followers and enrich certain Q-adjacent groups.

One only has to look at the backlash against the reviews to see this is working. Any one who criticizes the film or the backstory is labeled as a “pedo-lover.” That’s really creepy.

That's true of every movie about real events or true stories. That this is the worst complaint about the movie shows how unsupported and purely politically driven the bad reviews are.
This is not the worst complaint about the movie.

I'm okay with people making a lot of money for making films. That's basically Hollywood.

Great, now days I can’t even go watch a movie without worrying about becoming a Qanon follower. 😆

Actually, some of you on this thread obsessing about the producers of this movie seem like anxiety - driven, paranoid conspiracy theorists.

It’s a movie about the prevalence of sex slavery and trafficking - why the h*^ll are u condemning this effort to tell their story in the hopes that countless children will be rescued and perverts thrown in jail??

Nothing, and I mean nothing, about seeing this move is going to have any impact whatsoever on real child trafficking. So the real question is: instead of spending $15 on a ticket, and probably about $20 on snacks, why aren’t you making a donation to a legitimate organization that deals with survivors?
