A tablespoon of heavy cream - I’ve given up everything else. It is my daily treat. |
1300 calories/week in coffee creamer is insane.
I cut out about 40 calories/day by drinking my coffee black. Once in a while if I'm getting coffee from elsewhere, I may add cream. But at home, it's black. |
I use whole milk |
Honest question, do you actually like coffee? Or would you be better off switching to tea? |
Same. I also use some vanilla syrup. It’s still not a ton of calories. You’d have to really be going all out with massive Starbucks copies to be adding a ton of calories through coffee. |
I use skim milk. And have dropped from two lattes (made at home, using 1/2 cup of skim milk) to one on most days. So that's 280 calories a week. I do add a 1/2 teaspoon of sugar so that adds another 50-60 calories a week.
1300 calories would be 185/day. That would be a LOT of creamer. |
You can! You just have to wean yourself off of the sugar. First cut the sugar in half and drink it that way for several weeks. Then cut again for several weeks. I thought I would never stop the sugar, but it works. The milk cuts the bitterness which is really what you want. |
I drink 3 cups black in the morning.
For afternoon or post-dinner coffee, I'll use a splash of half and half if I have any in the house. (It always spoils before I can get through a whole pint). I have no idea how much I use or how many calories are in it. |
2 percent milk, scalded. Never liked sugar in my coffee. Absolutely can't stand "creamers." |
I like oat milk in coffee. |
+1 I'm a big coffee drinker, but Yorkshire Gold tea is delicious and smooth. It's a good substitute. OP might want to try that with a splash of half and half and see how she likes it, because needing that much creamer to like coffee sounds like maybe she just likes creamer or doesn't like coffee. |
It might help if you use pre-measured creamer pods instead of pouring it. I use two Coffee Mate French vanilla pods, and they are 20 calories each. I typically drink between 2-3 cups per day.
I tried 10 calorie Carnation pods, but it was unbearable. |
I'm one of the PP's who also said this. Adding 1300 cals a week just from your morning coffee is insanity and hard to do UNLESS OP is actually getting a frappucino or similar. It doesn't sound like that though, sounds like it's an at-home coffee deal. I really think OP is miscalculating. |
It's certainly possible OP miscalculated. If it really is 1300 from creamer alone... well that answers the question from those who constantly say "I only eat 1200 calories a day but can't lose weight!" - because the vast majority of the time, they're not counting calories correctly. |
NP who did the cut in half trick, and it worked for me, too! I did this with a lot of my sugar consumption, like buying plain yogurt and adding a smaller and smaller amount of honey every few weeks. Now I like only a teaspoon of creamer in my coffee, and can even tolerate it black. OP, I like the Chobani creamers, too. I’ll also do half and half with a tiny bit of honey or maple syrup if I run out. |
